The wide corridors of the high school were filled with the sounds of students' footsteps and loud laughter, before the bell signaling the start of the first period cut through the din. The teacher walked down the corridor with measured steps, followed by Rosie, who walked calmly and deliberately, clutching her bag, her curious eyes taking in the walls of her new school.
The supervisor stopped in front of the classroom door, knocked twice, then opened it to enter, followed by Rosie .
The classroom was buzzing with talk and laughter, but the sound of the teacher banging loudly on the table caught everyone's attention:
"Quiet, everyone! Stay in your places. We have a new student joining our class today, so please welcome your classmate Rosie ."
All the students turned their heads toward the door, and whispers and curiosity filled the air. Rosie stepped forward, stood upright beside the teacher, and smiled a warm, gentle smile, bowing her head respectfully.
There, Jungkook was sitting.
A boy known for his coldness and bullying, with an imposing presence that made everyone avoid even looking him in the eye. He always sat alone, surrounded by an unwritten ban; no one dared approach him or sit next to him for fear of his sharp reaction.
The teacher hesitated for a moment, cleared his throat anxiously before pointing towards that corner, saying in a hesitant tone:
"Hmm... Rosie , you can sit there, in the empty seat next to Jungkook ."
At that moment, the students' eyes widened and one of the girls gasped softly. Everyone exchanged looks of pity and dismay, as if the new girl was willingly leading herself into danger.
But Rosie showed no signs of confusion. She slung her bag over her shoulder and began walking through the corridors with steady, confident steps.
In the back corner, Jungkook slowly raised his head, his dark, cold eyes scanning the girl who approached him without flinching or showing any sign of fear. He expected her to stop and beg the teacher to change her seat, as the others always did. But Rosé reached the table, looked at him with soft, confident eyes, then calmly pulled out a chair and sat right next to him. She placed her bag on the table and took out her notebooks, while Jungkook watched her every move with a mixture of surprise and bewilderment. Their eyes met for a few seconds; hers calm, filled with gentle defiance, his sharp gaze trying to penetrate her mystery, igniting the first spark of a story that would turn the tranquility of this class upside down.
