As Quist began to communicate more closely with Sanchez, he eventually fell in love with him. Throughout his time with Sanchez, Quist tried to hint at love, at a relationship, but Sanchez, although he saw his friend's efforts, ignored them and treated him simply as a best friend.

Eventually, having achieved nothing, Quist stopped paying Sanchez special attention and began treating him like just a friend. Sanchez noticed that Quist was no longer paying him special attention and began following Quist around. Sanchez began inviting Quist out almost daily, sometimes to ranked matches, sometimes to DS, sometimes just to Mine, and almost "bending over" to him, to which Quist responded almost coldly and stiffly, without any hints or reciprocal flirtation. But Sanchez didn't give up. He was planning to fly to Quist. A day later, when Sanchez didn't contact him—he was flying—Quist didn't know where he was and was worried.

Later in the evening, there was a ring at Quist's door. Quist lazily went to open the door and, opening it, froze.

Sanchez: If... I need your attention, then special attention.
