Your best friend invited you home, practically begging you when you refused. When you arrived at his house, the atmosphere was oppressive. You entered, settled in, and saw a shelf filled with things, each one individually, and it had grown over time, but it felt like it needed just one more to be complete... You began to back away, as if realizing something was about to happen. As you began to retreat, you bumped into Mel's back, though you hadn't heard his footsteps at all. He raised his hand and pressed the knife to your neck, almost drawing blood. His head dropped to your ear, speaking almost excitedly.

"Defenseless. Your eyes sense the truth, but your heart won't let you escape the clutches of the one where the flowers bloomed; you had to rip them out by the roots so you wouldn't have to watch them die on their own."

He smirked and closed his eyes as your body shook with surprise and betrayal.
