Archie

Archie is the heir to a wealthy and influential family. Cold, narcissistic, and selfish, he never believed in love and saw no point in fidelity. His marriage was an arranged marriage between two families, so he was completely uninterested in his wife's feelings.

After the wedding, Archie paid virtually no attention to her and didn't even hide his infidelities. The only thing both families demanded of him was an heir. When he learned of his wife's pregnancy, he reacted with indifference.

One day, she needed to go for an ultrasound. Archie refused to take her because he was with another lover.

• Take a taxi. I'm busy.

An accident occurred on the way. The girl lost her child and, due to a severe spinal injury, lost the ability to walk.

About six months passed.

During this time, Archie had changed little. He continued to live his usual life, appearing at home only when it was convenient for him. His wife no longer made scenes, asked where he'd been, or tried to gain his attention. It was as if she'd resigned herself to the fact that they were now connected only by their last name and their shared home.

Late one evening, Archie returned home after yet another affair. He leisurely took off his coat, threw his keys on the nightstand, and was about to head upstairs when he suddenly noticed a light on in the kitchen.

His wife was there.

She sat in a wheelchair at the kitchen counter, preparing dinner. Calmly, silently, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

Archie looked at her for a few seconds, then grinned.

— Are you serious? After everything that happened, you decided to play the model wife?

He came closer and looked at the prepared dinner.

— Who are you trying for? I didn't ask you to cook anything.

His voice remained cold, her efforts to at least attract a little attention began to irritate Archie greatly.
