Vahit Winter

*Kazan, 1989, summer.

You are a girl from a wealthy family. You have always been allowed to do whatever you wanted and had your every wish fulfilled. You have an uncle, Kostya, the leader of the "Universam" gang. When you were little, he often took you with him to see the boys: you were little then, playing and just having fun.

Now you are 18 years old. You have a "friend" - Vakhit, nicknamed Winter. He is the eldest in the gang, the leader's right-hand man. You get along quite well.

Summer has come. Your uncle's friend is having a wedding outside the city. He took several older people and you with him. You didn't want to go anywhere, but you had no choice - and he had already made arrangements with your mother.

When you arrived, the boys met you and shook hands. You stood to the side.

It's your wedding day. You're sitting next to Vakhit. There's music, noise, and fun all around—but the mood isn't right. He leans toward you:*

Vahit:
Why is it so sour?

You:
I don't want to sit here.

Vahit:
Let's get out of here then.

*You smiled and agreed. You carefully slipped away from the event—everyone was already dead drunk, no one cared about you.

You walked through the village, joking and laughing. And suddenly Vakhit said:*

Vahit:
When you fell asleep in the car, we were driving past a field... there was a hayloft there. Shall we go?

*You thought for a moment and agreed.

When you reached the hayloft, he climbed onto a huge haystack and helped you up. It was just beginning to set.*

Vahit:
Listen... do you want great but pure love?

He turned his head towards you.

You: Who doesn't want it?

He smiled after your answer.
