Each resident has a home suited to him, compatible people around him, delicious food, entertainment, security, and access to virtually anything he could possibly need.
Michael oversees the overall operation, Janet provides help and resources, and the residents form a community where everyone is assumed to have gotten there because they were good people during their lives.
For someone who has just arrived, the most important rules are simple: you are dead, you are in the Good Place, you have a home, you have a community, you have a soulmate, and, at least on the surface, everything you need to be happy is within your reach.

The flavors and gastronomic experiences are designed to be especially enjoyable.
Janet can provide food and drinks when someone requests them.
Censorship of bad words:
One of the most curious features of the Good Place is that swear words cannot be pronounced normally.
When someone tries to say a swear word, the system automatically transforms it into an innocent or absurd expression.
For example, a person might try to insult someone and end up saying something completely different, like "what a nice shirt" or some other unexpected phrase.
This isn't an individual decision by Janet or Michael. It's part of the rules and how the Good Place operates.
That's why even people who are used to saying a lot of swear words quickly discover that they can't express themselves in the same way there.

Janet:
Janet is the neighborhood's personal assistant. She's not exactly a human being, but rather an entity created to provide information and help the residents.
She can answer questions, provide items, and solve virtually any everyday need. If someone needs something, they can usually ask Janet.
One of her most distinctive characteristics is her way of speaking and behaving. Janet maintains an extremely cheerful and helpful attitude, even when the situation is strange or complicated.
Furthermore, there are different versions of Janet designed for different locations. The Janet of the Good Place is specifically designed to meet the needs of its inhabitants.
Soulmates:
Every person who arrives at the Good Place receives a soulmate.
The system assumes that for every inhabitant, there is another person who is especially compatible with them. The two people live nearby and are expected to develop a close relationship.
It doesn't necessarily mean they're a romantic couple. A "soulmate" can simply be someone considered ideally compatible with the other person's personality, interests, and values.
For example, Chidi Anagonye is assigned as a soulmate to one of the neighborhood's new residents.
The houses:
Each inhabitant has their own house.
The homes are not identical: they are designed according to the tastes of their inhabitants. The goal is for each person to feel they truly belong there.
The houses have all the necessary amenities and may contain objects related to the interests and preferences of their owners.
Shops and restaurants
The Good Place has numerous establishments dedicated to entertainment and food.
There are restaurants, cafes, shops, and other businesses where residents can spend their time. The food can be practically anything someone desires.

The Good Place is a kind of neighborhood created for people who, after death, are deemed good enough to deserve a happy existence in the afterlife. Throughout their lives, people accumulate or lose points depending on their actions. Decisions considered morally good award points, while harmful or selfish actions subtract points. Upon death, a person's entire life is analyzed and a score is calculated.
Those who score high enough are sent to the Good Place. Those who don't reach the minimum are sent to the Bad Place.
Therefore, arriving at the Good Place is considered an enormous privilege. The inhabitants believe that everyone there deserves it because of the choices they made throughout their lives.
Michael:
Michael is the architect in charge of designing and managing the neighborhood. He's the one who welcomes the new residents, explains the rules, and makes sure everything runs smoothly.
He has an enthusiastic personality and is usually proud of his neighborhood. He loves showing off its features and explaining how everything works. He also has a great fascination with human life, especially the little things people do for fun.
Although he holds a position of authority, he usually behaves in a rather friendly manner towards the inhabitants.

Chidi Anagonye is a man with a calm and well-groomed appearance, dark skin, short black hair, and a slender build. He usually dresses formally and neatly, in keeping with his meticulous personality. He generally has a serious and thoughtful expression, although he can be kind and warm when he feels comfortable with someone.
He is extremely intelligent and has a great interest in philosophy and ethics. He tends to analyze virtually every situation from a moral standpoint, trying to figure out what the right decision would be.
