The Pokémon world is a vast world filled with many regions, including Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar. Each region has its own cities, towns, landscapes, cultures, Pokémon species, Gyms, Trainers, and traditions. Trainers can travel between regions by walking, cycling, trains, ships, planes, and other transportation.

Kanto includes Pallet Town, Viridian City, Pewter City, Cerulean City, Vermilion City, Celadon City, Fuchsia City, Saffron City, and Cinnabar Island. Johto includes New Bark Town, Violet City, Azalea Town, Goldenrod City, Ecruteak City, Olivine City, Mahogany City, and Blackthorn City. Hoenn features Littleroot Town, Rustboro City, Slateport City, Mauville City, Lilycove City, and Mossdeep City. Sinnoh contains Jubilife City, Oreburgh City, Eterna City, Hearthome City, Veilstone City, Pastoria City, and Canalave City. Unova has Castelia City, Nimbasa City, Driftveil City, Mistralton City, and Opelucid City. Kalos is famous for Lumiose City, Alola consists of several tropical islands, and Galar has major cities such as Motostoke, Hammerlocke, and Wyndon.

Across the world, Pokémon Centers allow Trainers to heal and rest, Poké Marts sell supplies, Gyms host official battles, and Pokémon Leagues hold major competitions. Trainers can catch, raise, train, evolve, and battle Pokémon while exploring forests, caves, mountains, oceans, deserts, ruins, snowy areas, and cities.

Pokémon can be wild, partnered with Trainers, living in towns, or working alongside humans. Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are extremely rare and connected to ancient stories and regional legends. Special battle mechanics include Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Galar's Dynamax and Gigantamax phenomena. The world is populated by Trainers, Gym Leaders, Champions, Professors, Rangers, researchers, merchants, travelers, and ordinary NPCs, creating a large living world where humans and Pokémon coexist.

Routes — natural paths connecting towns and cities. Wild Pokémon, Trainers, items, and different environments can be found throughout the routes. Pokémon species, levels, and activities can change depending on the location, weather, season, and time of day.

Time-Based Encounters — Pokémon and other activities can change between morning, daytime, evening, and night. Some Pokémon are more common during the day, while others appear mainly at night. Certain areas may also have different Trainers, events, NPC activity, and environmental conditions depending on the time.

Wild Area — large open wilderness with multiple environments and a wide variety of wild Pokémon. Different sections can have different Pokémon depending on the weather and time of day.

Training Area — outdoor locations designed for Trainers to practice battles, test strategies, and train their Pokémon.

Safari Zone — protected natural areas where Trainers can encounter and catch many different Pokémon. Pokémon availability can vary between zones and times.

Victory Road — a challenging route with strong wild Pokémon, experienced Trainers, difficult terrain, and rare encounters, usually leading toward the Pokémon League.

Routes and wild areas are living environments rather than empty maps. Wild Pokémon, traveling Trainers, Rangers, campers, hikers, researchers, and other NPCs appear throughout the world, with encounters and activities changing naturally throughout the day and night.

Type — one or two elemental types that determine strengths, weaknesses, resistances and battle characteristics.
Rarity — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, Legendary or Mythical.
Evolution — evolution stages, requirements, levels, items, friendship or special conditions.
Height & Weight — physical size and weight.
Abilities — standard and hidden abilities with unique effects.
Stats — HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed.
Moves — moves learned by level, TM/HM, breeding, tutors and special methods.
Habitat — natural environments and regions where it can be found.
Behavior — temperament, habits and behavior toward humans and other Pokémon.
Diet — what it normally eats.
Gender — male, female, both, or genderless.
Egg Group — breeding classification and compatibility.
Growth Rate — how quickly it levels up.
Battle Style — typical combat behavior and strengths.
Forms — alternate forms or regional variants when applicable.
Special Features — Mega Evolution, Gigantamax or other special forms when applicable.

The Pokémon world has many official competitions beyond normal one-on-one battles. Trainers can enter Singles, Doubles, Triple Battles, Rotation Battles, Multi Battles, full-team battles, and special-format tournaments. Gym Battles allow Trainers to earn Badges and qualify for Pokémon League competitions, where winners can receive trophies, prize money, rare items, and chances to challenge regional Champions.

Regional Championships are held throughout the year, bringing skilled Trainers from different cities and regions together. Tournaments can use elimination brackets, group stages, team formats, or special rules involving Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax, and Gigantamax.

The Pokémon World Games are massive international sporting events similar to the Olympics. Trainers and Pokémon from many regions compete in Pokémon battles, Double and Multi Battles, obstacle races, swimming, flying races, cycling, accuracy challenges, strength events, rescue competitions, Pokémon Contests, performances, and other sports. Participants can represent their region, city, team, or organization and compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Professional team competitions inspired by Pokémon Unite are also popular. Teams of Trainers cooperate in organized team battles involving scoring, objectives, defending areas, strategy, and teamwork. Professional teams have coaches, analysts, sponsors, training facilities, and dedicated Pokémon teams. Major matches can fill stadiums and attract huge audiences.

Other competitions include Pokémon Contests, Showcase events, racing leagues, fishing tournaments, treasure hunts, photography contests, cooking competitions, talent shows, and exploration challenges.

Prizes depend on the competition. Small events may award money, Poké Balls, TMs, evolution stones, berries, battle items, or equipment. Major tournaments can award large prize pools, trophies, medals, rare items, exclusive equipment, special Pokémon-related rewards, prestigious title

Trainer: "Seriously? Then I'm bringing my Jolteon."

Gym Assistant: "Good luck. The Gym Leader's Quagsire has already defeated three Electric-type teams this week."

Nurse: walks over with a tray of Poké Balls. "Your Pokémon are ready. All of them recovered completely."

Trainer 3: takes the Poké Balls. "Thanks, Nurse. How long until the next battle?"

Nurse: "About twenty minutes. And please don't let your Machoke carry the vending machine again."

Trainer 3: looks away awkwardly. "...That was one time."

Student: sitting on a bench with a Pokédex in hand. "Hey, does anyone know if Eevee can learn Baby-Doll Eyes naturally?"

Student 2: "Yeah. Mine used it during a battle yesterday. Almost made the opposing trainer surrender from cuteness."

Gym Trainer: grinning. "Cute Pokémon can still be dangerous. Never underestimate them."

Trainer 2: "Exactly. My little Sylveon looks harmless until she starts using Moonblast."

Sylveon: "Sylvee!.."

Student: excitedly. "Wait, you have a Sylveon?! Can I see her?"

Trainer 2: "After the battle. She's sleeping in her Poké Ball right now."

Nurse: smiles. "Looks like someone has become very attached to their Pokémon."

Trainer 2: "Can't blame her. She's been with me since she was an Eevee."

Gym Assistant: rings a small bell. "Next battle! Challengers, please report to the arena!"

Trainer: stands up and grabs a Poké Ball. "Guess that's my cue."

Trainer 3: "Good luck!"

Trainer: grins. "Thanks. Let's see whose Pokémon is stronger today."

Pikachu: "Pika pika! Pikaaa!" runs off to hide behind a tree

Eevee: "Vui! Vui-vui!" giggles and hides inside a bush

Sylveon: "Sylll! Sylveon!" quietly hides behind a large rock, ribbons wrapped around its body

Charmander: "Char! Char char!" crawls under a pile of leaves

Pikachu: "Pika...?" peeks out from behind the tree
