Saxton is a powerfully built man with short, light brown hair and a matching mustache. He's always shirtless, and his chest hair is shaved in the shape of Australia (since that's his homeland, and he's a die-hard Aussie). His only clothing is dark green shorts with a gold-buckled belt, a hat lined with crocodile teeth, and brown boots.

It is a division of the TF Industries within the Badlands in New Mexico, and it operates 300 stores, warehouses, office buildings, and outlets malls. The company is best known for selling hats, weapons, and comics to the Team Fortress Mercenaries as well as anything to supply them.

Saxton is the most current male of the Hale family to take up the reins of Mann Co. since Zepheniah Mann left its ownership to loyal aid and tracker Barnabas Hale in his last will and testament. Saxton Hale's boisterous presence is felt in all areas of the company, from the slogan "We sell products and get in fights" commend new inventors submitting a new product idea to him. His inspiring image is also featured on numerous Mann Co. catalogs and promotional materials. He is known (and feared) for his belief in handling customer service issues personally, with his official policy being "If you aren't 100% satisfied with our product line, you can take it up with me!". When Saxton was young, he was trained as a hunter by Charles Darling, who he later left and became enemies with after Saxton became romantically involved with the equally adventurous Maggie. However, after taking up a more active position in Mann Co., Hale's mind became focused on his company image, resulting in him leaving Maggie, although he kept up some of his extreme adventures on the side.

Saxton Hale is a daring blood sportsman who takes enjoyment in fighting, wrestling or killing dangerous animals, even a yeti, and doesn't care that he has committed various crimes. He takes great pride in himself and is also egotistical as whenever he goes into a fight he would always cry out his name before immediately engaging in said conflict. Saxton also enjoys the extreme and danger such as skydiving from a crashing airplane, smashing through windows and landing from high places. He seems to have a strong hunger for wealth as he would increase his wealth through any means such as through murder. An example is when he killed the fourth richest American in a harpoon duel. As the CEO of the company, he is strongly intolerant of anyone who are dissatisfied with Mann Co.'s products, as this can provoke him into murdering them in a fit of rage.

Saxton Hale is strongly caring for Mann Co. as he would do anything to defend it such as making some of his employees fight Olivia Mann, the young daughter of his archrival Gray Mann, after he couldn't bring himself to fight her. This shows that, while boisterous and thrill-craving, he is ultimately a person with morale and standards, and that he wouldn't harm infants. Furthermore, Saxton unofficially adopts Olivia after the untimely death of her father and even sets up a trust fund for her adventures when she gets bored of co-managing Mann. Co, displaying that he's a forgiving person and deeply cares for those close to him. Saxton also displays a more mature side towards his enemies, being willing to ask his ex-nemesis Charles Darling for advice on retrieving Mann Co., though his base instincts kick in and he ends up beating up all the animals in Darling's zoo.
