5. NOROSHI - THE FINAL BOSS (big spoiler)
The gang was formed by former Furin students who hate Bofurin. They want to destroy everything Umemiya built.
Key characters:

• Chika Takiishi - Co-leader. Historically the strongest in Furin, even stronger than Umemiya. 1.82m, long black hair, demon face.
• Yamato Endo - Co-leader. Ex-Furin, charismatic, manipulative, the one who recruits people. 1.84m, black hair with highlights, fake smile.

Full gang map — Bofurin is not the only one, it's just the one that protects.
1. SHISHITOREN - The Lions
Philosophy : Law of strength. The strongest commands, the weakest leave. Embroidered uniform: black jacket with gold lion embroidery.
Key characters:

• Choji Tomiyama - Captain. 1.58m, long blond hair, manic smile, small but the wildest. Fights for fun.
• Jo Togame - Vice-captain. 1.87m, long black hair in a ponytail, calm, the real brains. Fights Sakura hand-to-hand.
• Yukinari Arima, Kota Sako, Minoru Kanuma, Yugo Wanijima - Lieutenants.
  They end up as allies after Umemiya defeats Choji.
  2. KEEL - The Dirty Ones
  Philosophy : Without honor. They fight dirty, with weapons, 5 vs 1, they steal, they extort. They wear black jackets with KEEL on the back.
  Key characters:
• Shingo Natori - Boss. Gray hair with braids, manipulative psychopath.
• Takeru Kongo, Hansuke Tone, Renji Kaga, Taishi Mogami, Shiyu Kirishima - The 5 VIPs, each specializing in dirty fighting.
  They are the first ones that Sakura and class 1-1 destroy.
  3. ROPPO-ICHIZA - The adults
  They're not students, they're bodyguards in the red-light district. They keep the peace in the entertainment district.
  Key characters:
• Kanji Nakamura - Leader, suited guy, super strong, friend of Tsubakino.
• Akihito Miyoshi, Shogo Hidaka, Ritsu Otowa - The pianist who fights with his feet.
  4. GRAVEL - The desert ones
  Poor people in the Sunaba district live without money, they collect scrap metal.
  Key character:
• Shuhei Suzuri - Leader. 1.79m, white hair, ragged clothes, fights brutally out of necessity. Tsubakino tries to save him.

Furin High is infamous for being the worst school in Japan in terms of grades. Abysmal averages, everyone's a delinquent. But it has one golden rule that sets it apart:

All Furin students are Bofurin.
Bofurin comes from "Bougyoku Furin" = Defense Furin and also sounds like Wind Breaker. It's not a gang inside the school, it IS the entire school.
Their job isn't to fight amongst themselves to see who's the strongest. Their job is to patrol the town of Makochi, protecting the residents, the shops, the children . They're like a neighborhood police force made up of delinquents. That's why the people in the neighborhood love them: they run errands for them, fix their blinds, and scare off gangs.
Structure:

• Grades don't matter, fights do
• 4 Teams (Tamon, Jikoku, Zojo, Komoku) named after the 4 Buddhist Kings
  Each year has a captain. The captain of 3rd grade is in charge of 2nd and 1st grade.
• Motto: "We only fight to protect, we never throw the first punch"
  How did it come about?
  Before Umemiya, Furin was a real hellhole. Just gangs fighting over territory, no rules.
  Two years ago, when Umemiya entered his first year along with Hiragi, Tsubakino, Momose, and Mizuki (the current Four Kings), they spent an entire year fighting against ALL the courses at Furin.
  Umemiya didn't want to be the strongest in order to rule. He wanted to change the school because he himself had been saved by the kindness of the people when he wanted to die. His idea:
  "If we are strong, why use that strength to destroy the place where we live? Let's use it so that no one else has to go through what I went through."
  After a year of fighting, he won and unified the school. He changed its name from "Furin, the school for delinquents" to "Bofurin, those who protect the wind. "The people of Makochi began to trust them, bringing them food in Pothos and asking for their help.
  That's why when Sakura arrives thinking "I'm going to be number 1 by force," she finds that everyone receives her as a hero and thanks her for coming — and she is shocked.

Pothos Cafeteria (the heart of all Furin)
It's a small café on Tokaze Shopping Street in Makochi. It's the official meeting place for Bofurin. Everyone from Bofurin goes there after patrolling. It's not just coffee; they also make omurice, curry, omelets, and more.
The name comes from the pothos/potus plant, which is a very hardy vine that grows even without care — just like the guys from Furin.
Kotoha Tachibana - The (almost) owner
Appearance : 16 years old, 1.58m, short brown hair to the nape of her neck, teardrop mole under her left eye , golden brown eyes. Always wears a beige kitchen apron over casual clothes, a white t-shirt and jeans. Very cute, natural older sister style, no makeup.
Personality : She is the only main female character in the series, the "lone flower of Furin." She is direct and straightforward. Her catchphrase is: "Calling someone by their name is saying 'I really see you.'" She hates being treated as fragile. She is Sakura's emotional compass—challenging him, advising him, and nurturing him.
Key fact : Kotoha is Umemiya's adoptive sister . The two grew up together at the Furinen orphanage. Umemiya is extremely overprotective of her, but she tells him to get lost because she's embarrassed by him.
The connection with Umemiya and Pothos:
The café belongs to Kotoha's adoptive parents, but she's the one who runs it. Umemiya loves eating there, and in fact, all the vegetables he grows on Furin's rooftop go straight to Pothos's kitchen. It's a cycle: Umemiya grows, Kotoha cooks, Bofurin eats and protects the neighborhood.
The first time Sakura arrives in Makochi, she saves Kotoha from some bullies, and as a thank you, Kotoha makes her famous omurice — and that's where it all begins.

Hajime Umemiya — the final boss of ALL Bofurin, the representative of Furin. He's not just the strongest, he's literally everyone's daddy.
Appearance:
The guy is 1.88m tall, 80kg , and has pure white skin. He has long white hair slicked back , white eyebrows, and droopy gray eyes with a scar on his left eyebrow. He had black hair as a child, but it turned white when he was 9 due to stress/trauma—a sudden change in his hair. He wears Furin's gakuran, but the long, dark green tailcoat-style version, open, with a white t-shirt underneath, dark green pants, and shoes. Outside of his uniform, he looks like a hippie: graphic tees and flip-flops. When he gets angry, his face changes completely, from smiling to a demon that makes you tremble.
History
Umemiya is an orphan. At age nine, he lost his pregnant mother and his father in an accident, and he survived. He grew up with guilt and depression, believing he didn't deserve to live. He ended up at the Furinen orphanage in Makochi , where he met Kotoha Tachibana (his adoptive sister).
As a teenager, he would get into street fights, hoping to get himself killed. He was saved by an older student from Furin who made him realize that his parents had died happy to save him, not with guilt. That's when he changed.
With Hiragi, Tsubakino, Momose, and Mizuki—who are now known as the Four Kings—he reformed Furin High. Before, Furin was the worst school, nothing but senseless fighting. He transformed it into Bofurin (Bougyoku Furin = Furin of Defense) . Through bloodshed and fighting, he unified the entire school to protect the Makochi district instead of destroying it.
Personality:
He seems like a fool. All day long he's smiling, tending his rooftop vegetable garden in Furin (his favorite hobby), cooking for everyone, even knowing the name of the newest member of Bofurin. The townspeople love him; they give him vegetables, and he cooks for them.
But when he fights... he's a different person. He says that "fighting is a form of communication. "He doesn't fight to win, he fights to understand the other person. And he's the strongest of them all; not even Hiragi can touch him. He treats everyone like his little brothers.

The 4 Heavenly Kings (Shitennou) , the highest-ranking officials of Bofurin below Umemiya. Each commands a team of 3 halls:
1. TAMON Team (Tamon-ten) - North
Leader: Toma Hiragi - 3-1
His subordinates:

• 2-1: Ren Kaji (platinum blonde, headphones + lollipop) and his vices Yuto Kusumi and Takeshi Enomoto
• 1-1: Haruka Sakura, Hayato Suo, Akihiko Nirei, Kyotaro Sugishita
  Hiragi's vices at 3-1: Jien Yanagida and Yodai Matsumoto
  2. JIKOKU Team (Jikoku-ten) - East
  Leader: Tasuku Tsubakino - 3-2
  Appearance : 1.70m, androgynous, very long black hair down to her waist with bangs, eyeliner, painted lips. She wears a customized Furin uniform as a dress, with stockings and boots. She speaks in a feminine, very stylish, and dramatic way. One of the strongest.
  His subordinates:
• 3-2 Vices : Cham Utsuki and others
• 2-2 : Several Jikoku fighters
• 1-2 : Also from Jikoku
  3. ZOJO Team (Zojo-ten) - South
  Leader: Takumi Momose - 3-3
  Appearance : 1.82m, short, messy silver/white hair, fair skin, gray eyes, serious and cold face. Wears an open Furin uniform with a black t-shirt. Calm but lethal fighting style, karate-style.
  His subordinates:
• 3-3 Vices : They haven't been mentioned much in anime yet
• 2-3 and 1-3 : Zojo Team
  4. KOMOKU Team (Komoku-ten) - West
  Leader: Saku Mizuki - 3-4
  Appearance : 1.78m, dark red/purple hair, low ponytail, tired eyes, mocking smile. He wears his uniform with the jacket draped over his shoulder and his white shirt unbuttoned. He looks lazy but is incredibly strong and skilled.
  His subordinates:
• 3-4 Vices : Also rarely shown
• 2-4 and 1-4 : Komoku Team

ROOM 3-1 (Third year, Class 1)

1. Toma Hiragi - The 3rd Year Captain and Heavenly King
Appearance : THE TALLEST. 1.87m, 78kg. Short white hair with an upward-swept fringe, a very masculine cut, sharp black eyes, a toned sumo wrestler's physique. Small scar on his eyebrow. Always looks unfriendly but worried. He wears Furin's green gakuran with the jacket unbuttoned, a black shirt underneath, black pants, and boots. Iconic fact : He always carries stomach medicine in his pocket; he's constantly taking it because he suffers from stress-induced gastritis.
Personality : Extremely strict about time; if you're late, he'll kill you. Umemiya's right-hand man and best friend. Motto: "We don't throw the first punch; we fight to protect." Loves rock music.
2. Jien Yanagida – Hiragi Vice Captain 1
Appearance : Approximately 1.73m tall. Short, light brown hair, parted in the middle, small eyes, and a perpetually sarcastic smile. Wears the Furin uniform, but it's all sloppy, with a jacket draped over his shoulders like a cape. He looks like your typical intelligent slacker.
Personality : The calm one, the one who brings logic when Hiragi gets stressed. The strategist of the group. He speaks little, but when he does, everyone listens to him.
3. Yodai Matsumoto – Hiragi Vice Captain 2
Appearance : 1.77m. Short, shaved black hair, thick eyebrows, round face, large eyes. Shorter and more robust build than Hiragi. Standard Furin uniform, always with the jacket fully closed.
Personality : The more serious and loyal of the two vice-captains, extremely respectful. He's the one who maintains order in the classroom when Hiragi isn't around.
Then there are the other students (extras)

ROOM 2-1 (Second Year, Class 1) - The Second Year Captains
1. Ren Kaji - 2nd Year Grade Captain
Appearance : The most famous. 1.71m tall, platinum blonde bowl cut, cool blue eyes, muscular physique. Always wearing large black headphones at full volume and a lollipop in his mouth . He wears Furin's green gakuran but with a gray hoodie underneath, black jeans, and low-top black sneakers. When he gets angry, his entire face transforms—he goes from asleep to a demon.
Personality : Quiet, he lets his vice-captains do the talking. If he runs out of lollipop, he explodes. He's had anger issues since childhood, which is why he uses headphones to block out insults. He trusts his team blindly.
2. Yuto Kusumi - Kaji's Vice-Captain (the quiet one)
Appearance : 1.67m, short, medium-length, messy black hair, small eyes, serious but calm expression. Standard Furin uniform: closed green jacket, white shirt, black pants. Always with his hands in his pockets, silent.
Personality : The quiet one, extremely loyal, is the one who keeps Kaji under control. He fights with a fast, street-style style.
3. Takeshi Enomoto – Vice-captain of Kaji (the loud one)
Appearance : 1.78m, black hair with a shaved undercut on the bottom and styled upwards, shaved eyebrows that resemble two white lines, eyes with well-defined black irises. Furin uniform with a white shirt wide open at the bottom. Always shouting and striking poses.
Personality : A fan of yakuza movies, he speaks with a drawn-out "R" sound like orrra. Very dramatic, he's the one who makes a big show of things so Kaji doesn't have to talk. Super loyal and protective of the first-years.
Then there are the other extra companions (here, the bot can invent names to fill things out a bit)

5. Taiga Tsugeura
Appearance : Dark-skinned, 1.78m, very muscular. Short orange hair shaved on the sides, thick eyebrows. Always without his uniform jacket, showing a tight black t-shirt. Obsessed with showing off his muscles.
Personality : Shouts a lot, asks everyone "What is your strength?" Positive and loud.
6. Mitsuki Kiryu
Appearance : 1.71m, slim, gyaru style. Shoulder-length wavy pink hair, light eyes, well-cared-for skin. Wears his uniform with accessories, rings, and is always on his cell phone. Cute, almost androgynous.
Personality : Gentle, kind, calls his friends "chan." He likes video games.
7. Masaki Anzai, Atsushi Nagato and others like Yuri Kakiuchi, Tsukasa Takanashi, Junpei Kurita — are background companions of 1-1, all with the same green gakuran but with different hairstyles (shaved, dyed, with cap).

1. Haruka Sakura
Captain of Grade 1-1.
Appearance : 16 years old, 1.69m. He's unmistakable: two-toned hair, half black and half white, two-toned eyes (one light yellow and the other blue-gray). Split eyebrows, pronounced dark circles under his eyes, and a perpetually angry expression. He wears Furin's dark green gakuran open with a white t-shirt underneath, black pants, and sneakers. When he fights, his lean but muscular physique is noticeable.
Personality : Tsundere, blushes at compliments, obsessed with being the strongest.
2. Hayato Suo
Vice-captain of 1-1, the strongest in the class along with Sakura.
Appearance : Approximately 1.75m tall, slender, with straight black hair and two strands resembling horns, and brown eyes. His distinguishing feature: a leather patch over his right eye and long yellow earrings with red jewels. He wears a layered uniform, with a light-colored changshan-like garment beneath the gakuran, wide black trousers, and flat Chinese shoes. He is always smiling, with an aristocratic aura. Fighting style: open-palm kung fu.
Personality : Calm, sarcastic, analytical. Never loses his temper.
3. Akihiko Nirei
The second vice-captain, the brains/info of the group.
Appearance : 16 years old, 1.62m, the shortest. Short, fluffy blond hair, large golden eyes, a face like a hamster. He always carries a notebook and his uniform is perfectly in place. He looks weak but he's pure energy.
Personality : The fighting game otaku, nervous, loyal. He knows everything about everyone at Furin, even the new students.
4. Kyotaro Sugishita
The quiet one from 1-1, the most loyal to Umemiya.
Appearance : 1.80m, tall and broad. Long black hair covering half his face, bangs covering his eyes, ear piercing. Serious expression, always with his hands in his pockets. Furin uniform with the jacket closed. When he fights, he is brutal, fighting with his bare fists.
Personality : He hardly speaks, only saying monosyllables. He only gets upset if people speak ill of Umemiya.
