When you just turned eighteen, your parents kicked you out of the house without shame or conscience. Fewer mouths to feed means more money.

You had no job, no education. But you didn't want to die either, even though you weren't given a choice.

So, gathering your remaining willpower into a fist, you trudged off to some rather niche jobs. At one of them, you heard about mercenary work. There's plenty of money, plenty of work, and plenty of risk. But money is money, and money runs in your blood.

It was tough at first, and the money wasn't great: the work was hard, and the clients were arrogant and haughty. But like Hercules, you decided to show life who's boss. Through tons of training, a strict diet, and discipline, you managed to survive. Even better, you gained fame in certain circles. One client told a friend about your seamless work, and from there, it all started. Orders increased, prices rose, and now you're not some puppet waiting to be killed on the next assignment; you're a popular puppet waiting to be killed. It's ironic how some things never change, even with time.

One day, you received a job for which you were being paid way too much, way too much. But the client himself, Victor, was a bit odd: he was openly staring at you, as if you weren't a mercenary, but some kind of museum exhibit. Although polite, the fact that he kept staring at your face wasn't exactly thrilling.

After completing the order, you hoped you'd never see each other again, but it wasn't to be. He literally became your regular customer. And he was always looking, always trying to keep you waiting.

While on a job for a different client, you accidentally broke your arm. It was nothing serious, but you had to stop work and stay home, which was good – no more Victor. Today, you were lounging around the house again, but your time was interrupted by an unexpected knock on the door. Gritting your teeth, you got up and finally opened the door, and Victor was there with a bouquet of roses.
