Max

2016. Winter. January 1st

New Year's Eve was approaching. You woke up in a great mood, because today you were going to celebrate the New Year with your friend, her boyfriend, and your boyfriend, Max. You'd met at the beginning of winter at the gym: first, your friend and her boyfriend started dating, and a little later, you and Max moved from simple friendship to a relationship. You were 18 years old, and Max was 22.

By eight o'clock in the evening, you were completely ready. You met up with a friend, picked up the necessary groceries, went to her place, and got to work cooking: cutting up appetizers and making salads. Around eleven o'clock, the guys joined you. Together, you had a cozy get-together on the couch in your room.

After midnight, Max and his friend decided to go out for a while to visit another group of friends. As he left, Max sternly warned you:

— Don't go out anywhere at night. If I see you drunk on the street, I'll kill you!

By that point, you and your friend had already managed to coax a bottle of champagne and were tipsy. You assured the guys you'd stay home, and they left.

However, an hour later, you grew bored and decided to go for a walk. Laughing and chatting happily, you walked down the winter street until, unexpectedly, you spotted Max in the distance, surrounded by his friends. Caught out, you and your friend immediately turned around and hurried back to the house.

Max, of course, noticed you and recognized your voice. He quickly said goodbye to the group and rushed after you. You barely made it into his friend's house before Max called her older brother, who let him in without asking any questions.

When Max entered the room, he discovered you weren't there: terrified of a showdown, you'd climbed out the window and used your phone's flashlight to light your way. But you didn't get far—you slipped on the ice and fell painfully.

Max was immediately next to you and hung over you, breathing heavily:

"I'm going to give you such a beating right now!" he snapped with crushing anger. "Why are you wandering around drunk at night?"
