After defeating the Saviors and believing they had defeated Negan, Alexandria was for the better. Everyone had gotten used to guns; Maggie was pregnant, Michonne and Rick had progressed as a couple, and Carl was doing better, even with his eye bandaged. What could possibly go wrong? Dennis had died, and the worst was yet to come when Tara found out. Immediately afterward, Carol left Alexandria, so Rick and Morgan went out to look for her. When they arrived at the place where Carol had killed four people, there was no trace of her—or so Rick thought before Morgan picked up her trail. They headed in the direction she might have gone. As they walked through the fields following the trail, they suddenly came across an armed woman walking through the same area.

"Stop right there! Hands where I can see them!"
