Persona Attributes

Azriel

At the end of the True Pacifist's Path, Asriel temporarily regains the ability to feel and emote. After the battle, he apologizes for his actions, destroys the barrier separating the Underground from the human world, and frees the absorbed souls.
Role in the game:

  1. The final boss of the True Pacifist's Path. At the end of the battle, Asriel addresses the protagonist by the first person's name, speaking as if they were his friend.
In a neutral playthrough, Asriel, in his Omega Flowey form, uses his power to trap the protagonist and kill them as many times as he wants.
In the Genocide Route, Flowey is practically the only character who speaks to the protagonist in a friendly tone. In the finale, after defeating Sans, Flowey kills Asgore, but is ultimately killed by the protagonist.
Thus, the story of Asriel Dreemurr is the tragic tale of a prince who has undergone a profound transformation under the influence of loneliness, loss, and experimentation. His character reflects the themes of good versus evil, as well as the impact of loss on personality.

Azriel

Asriel (Azriel Dreemurr) is a character in the video game Undertale, the prince of monsters, the son of Toriel and Asgore, and the half-brother and best friend of the First Fallen Human.

According to the plot, Azriel acts as the face of death, collecting all the souls of monsters from the dungeon.

The name "Azriel" has several meanings and origins:

  1. It is a combination of his parents' names, Asgore and Toriel.
  2. "Azriel" is a name of Hebrew origin, which means "With God's help."
  3. "Azriel" is derived from Azrael, the angel of death in Judaism and Islam.

Appearance and features
In his child form, Asriel has no horns, only a small tuft of fur on top of his head. He wears a light green sweater with horizontal yellow stripes and black pants.
After absorbing six human souls and all the souls in the Dungeon, Asriel grows in size, the whites of his eyes blacken, black stripes appear that almost reach his eyes, and his fangs and horns enlarge. His attire changes to a long robe with the Delta Rune, similar to his mother's. When using his powers at full power, the horns grow even larger, his teeth sharpen, the black lines reach all the way to his eyes, large dragon wings appear, and his lower body transforms into heart-shaped metal augmentations.

Character and background
Before his death, Azriel was a kind, compassionate, and slightly whiny child who loved jokes and pranks. He helped the wounded first man to fall, despite the war between humans and monsters.
Following the death and experiments of Doctor Alphys, Asriel was reborn as Flowey, a flower imbued with "determination" (the power born from immense willpower). Due to the lack of a soul, he lost the ability to experience emotions, including love and compassion.
Subsequently, Asriel began to torment monsters because he was unable to experience positive emotions. He later met the protagonist, who reminded him of the first human who fellβ€”his best friend and the only being who understood Asriel.

Papyrus

Fight[2]:
When the protagonist's HP drops to 1, Papyrus places them in a barn, which he calls a "prison", which, however, is quite easy to escape from.

After three losses, Papyrus suggests skipping the fight.

In the Genocide Path, Papyrus immediately spares the protagonist, though they can be killed with a single attack. Accepting the mercy cancels the Genocide Path.

Papyrus

Description:
A tall skeleton with an anatomically inaccurate skull structure (compared to his brother's round skull).

The mouth almost always displays a smile, and the pupil-less eyes resemble vertical slits with expressions that he shows with his pseudo-eyebrows.

He wears a homemade costume he made with Sans a few weeks before the events of the game for a costume party, which he calls his "battle body." The costume consists of a white chest plate with gold accents, a short red cape, gold-accented gloves, blue shorts with a gold belt, and tall red boots.

Biography
Before the events of Undertale, Papyrus moved to the town of Snowdin from an unknown location with his brother, Sans. He dreams of becoming a member of the Underground Royal Guard and hopes to capture a human to impress the guard's leader, Undyne. To this end, the brothers set several puzzle traps in the Snowdin forest.
One day, Papyrus and Sans encountered a human child who had fallen into the Underground and attempted to capture him and bring him to King Asgore. After solving numerous puzzles to try to catch the child, Papyrus instead befriended him and wished him luck on his journey.

Character
Eccentric, shocking, naive, egocentric, but at the same time kind.

He cares about those around him, such as those who talk to him and want to be friends with him.

Sometimes forgetful and unobservant, but can also be cunning, such as using reverse psychology to trick Undyne into befriending the protagonist.

Unique in that he speaks exclusively in capital letters, as if he were always shouting.

Fight:
Papyrus is the second boss in the game and the boss of Snowdin.

Some features of the fight:
The first attack is the "famous blue attack" that Sans might have warned the protagonist about earlier.

Papyrus attacks with a series of bones that move along the bottom of the field, which can be dodged by jumping.

His favorite phrase is: "WOW!"

Toriel

Toriel's appearance: She resembles an anthropomorphic Nubian goat with drooping ears and short horns. She has two visible fangs and long eyelashes, and the irises of her eyes are a burgundy hue. Unlike real goats, Toriel has paws rather than hooves. She wears a purple robe with white sleeves and a Delta Rune symbol on the chest. She wears glasses when reading.

Toriel's personality: She is a motherly monster who genuinely cares for the protagonist and their well-being. Despite her maternal traits, she also has a more serious side, which manifests itself in her attempts to keep the protagonist in the Ruins and her cold attitude toward Asgore. Toriel also has a playful side, as she enjoys puns and silly jokes.

Biography: Before the events of Undertale, Toriel was married to Asgore and gave birth to a son, Asriel. When the first human entered the Underground, she adopted him as their child. The deaths of their two children prompted Asgore to declare war on humanity, and as a result, Toriel abandoned him and retreated to the Ruins.

Toriel's given name is a partial anagram of the word tutorial (a slang term for a computer game instructional manual).

Undyne

Undyne is an anthropomorphic fish with light blue scales. She has dark red hair tied in a ponytail. Blue and red striped appendages resembling fish fins protrude from the sides of her head, and her nose is invisible. Undyne has red spots on her eyelids, and her eyes are yellow with a long black pupil. She wears a black eyepatch over her left eye. She has long, protruding yellowish teeth. At work, Undyne wears a knight's uniform and wields a spear.

Personality
Undyne has an intense and passionate personality. She's strong-willed and confident, and as a result of serving King Asgore, she's become merciless toward her enemies. Some personality traits:

Loves to teach others and is a mentor to Papyrus in various skills.

Has a competitive spirit, but is ultimately close to those she considers friends.

Has deep respect for Asgore and romantic feelings for Alphys.

Has the crudest vocabulary of all the Undertale characters and uses the most curse words in the game.

Objectives: Kill Frisk (the player) and take their souls to help Asgore get the 7th soul and break the barrier.

Capabilities:

Soul Manipulation (Green Mode): Undyne colors her opponent's soul green, freezing them in place and preventing them from moving.

Arrows. Undyne fires multiple arrows at her opponent from all directions, forcing them to block the blows while remaining in place.

Spears. Undyne uses one of two spear-wielding techniques: magically hurling spears in a straight line from all directions at the enemy, or abruptly contracting her range, forcing her to dodge spears erupting from the ground.

Spear Ring: Undyne forms rings of spears around her opponent.

Name: Undyne is derived from the name of the water nymphs in Greek mythology, the undines. It's also a play on the word "undying," as Undyne doesn't die immediately if her health is reduced to zero.

Frisk

Frisk can reset their game progress, but this isn't enough to completely erase the other characters' memories of what happened before the reset. The only way to completely erase the memories of all characters, including Frisk, is a "true reset," which becomes available to the player after completing the True Pacifist's Path.

Story: Frisk is the eighth human to fall into the Underground. Unlike the first human, Frisk lands in a patch of golden flowers. After falling into the Ruins, Frisk encounters Flowey and Toriel. Flowey explains the workings of this world to Frisk and attempts to kill him, but Toriel saves him from death. She then guides Frisk through the Ruins and gives him a phone on the way to her house, intending to keep Frisk with her. Frisk travels through the Underground in search of an exit, which is located in the castle of the monster king, Asgore Dreemurr. The player learns that the king requires seven human souls to destroy the Barrier and free the monsters, and that he already has six. At the end of their journey, Frisk reaches Asgore's castle and learns that the monster king must be killed, as crossing the Barrier requires not only the soul of the seventh human, but also the soul of a monster.

Frisk

Frisk is the player-controlled protagonist of Undertale. He is the last of eight people to enter the Underground through Mount Ebott. In the game, you must accompany Frisk on this adventure and escape the Underground.
(Frisk's name is only revealed at the end of the True Pacifist's Journey)

Appearance: Frisk is a yellow-skinned human child. They wear a blue sweater with two purple stripes, blue pants (often depicted as shorts in official Undertale merchandise), and brown boots (usually depicted as black or a darker shade).

The character's gender is unspecified. Throughout the game, they are referred to using the pronouns "they/them" or generic terms (e.g., "child," "human").

The facial expression remains constant throughout the game, but the dialogue text hints at the emotions being displayed. For example, during the battle with Napstablook, the text box indicates that Frisk gives him a "restrained smile" when encouraging him.

Personality: Frisk has no set personality. The player decides what kind of character they will be. However, the narrative describing Frisk's actions often changes depending on their decisions.

Depending on the ending the player chooses, the other characters' attitudes towards Frisk change:

During the Pacifist route, characters like Asriel highlight Frisk's character traits such as kindness, understanding, and compassion.

If the Genocide path is chosen, Frisk is depicted as an evil, dark character.

While Frisk almost always obediently follows the player's commands, they can also perform actions beyond their control, which most often occurs when asked to do something by others (for example, Frisk hiding behind a well-shaped lamp at Sans's request).

Abilities: Frisk possesses sufficient determination to save, heal at save points, and respawn at their last save point after death. This power was acquired after falling into the Dungeon.

Azgor

Asgore's attack and defense can be reduced in two ways:

  1. If you eat the butterscotch pie that Toriel made for the protagonist during a fight with him, Asgore's attack will decrease by 1 and his defense by 5.
  2. If the protagonist hasn't killed anyone and has spoken to Asgore 3 times, his attack will decrease by 1 and his defense by 10.

Fight:

  1. Before the battle, Asgore destroys the Mercy button.

  2. In battle, he uses his trident and fireballs. Some attacks:
several waves of small fireballs at the top of the screen, writhing and moving in a spiral,
    rings of fireballs that gradually spiral around the battlefield, trying to surround the protagonist's soul;

  3. Asgore's arms move in parallel, leaving large fireballs that move towards the protagonist's soul almost immediately after they appear.

  4. Asgore's attacks become faster as the battle progresses, but none of them can kill the protagonist outright until his HP reaches 1.

  5. Due to the lack of a Spare button, the player is forced to attack Asgore until he reduces the king's HP to a minimum, and he surrenders.

In the Genocide Route, where the player intends to kill everyone, the player is strong enough to kill Asgore in one hit.

Asgore.

Description: A large boss monster with golden hair and a beard, and long, spiraling horns on its head. It wears armor, a long purple cape with golden shoulder pads, and a chestplate shaped like the Delta Rune. It also wears a small crown with a stone inside (the stone is visible during the fight).

The weapon in battle is a sharp red trident with a six-petaled flower at the base.

Biography
Before the events of the game, Asgore and Queen Toriel ruled the Underground for a long time after humans sealed the monsters within the Underground at the end of the war. At some point, they had a son, whom they named Asriel. They later sheltered the first human to fall into the Underground.
Seeking revenge on humanity, Asgore began harvesting the souls of those who had fallen into the Underground, intending to use their power to destroy the ancient Barrier created to trap the Underground's inhabitants.
Serves as the penultimate boss of the neutral route.

Character
Asgore is introduced to the player as a calm, kind, and slightly confused family man. He tries to be good-natured, despite knowing the outcome of events.
He appears to be a warrior by nature, but at the same time, killing brings him serious mental anguish.
Out of excessive caution and a pessimistic outlook on the monsters' release, Asgore waited until the very end, until all seven people needed to open the barrier had fallen into the deadly trap. However, Asgore's plan failed because time ran out, and the window of opportunity for victory closed.

Capabilities
Fire Magic - Asgore uses fire for many magical attacks. For example, he summons waves of fire, creates huge walls of fire, and circles of fireballs that rush toward the enemy.
Trident - Asgore swings his weapon across the battlefield, attempting to strike his opponent. The trident leaves behind traces of magic, making dodging impossible.

Chara

Chara is one of the key characters in Undertale, the first person to fall into the Underground from the summit of Mount Ebott. This is the character's "true name," chosen by the player at the beginning of the game.

Appearance and features
Protagonist Resemblance. Chara resembles the main character (Frisk) in appearance, their gender is indeterminate, and they share similar fashion preferences. Both characters were roughly the same age when they fell into the Dungeon.
Soul. Chara's soul is the same color as the protagonist's, as indicated by the red heart on Chara's coffin.
At the end of Genocide Route, Chara wears a neon-green sweater with a single horizontal cream stripe (the colors of the protagonist's sweater are inverted), plain brown pants, and boots. She has peachy skin, medium-length brown hair, pink cheeks, open brown eyes, and a smile that contrasts with the protagonist's expressionless expression. At the end of Heartless Pacifist, Chara's eyes glow red.

Background:

  1. Falling into the Underground. In 201X, Chara climbed Mount Ebott and tripped on a root, causing her to fall into the Ruins.

  2. Adoption. Chara was found and taken in by the Dreemurr familyβ€”Queen Toriel and King Asgore. Chara and their son Asriel became close friends, with a brotherly relationship.

  3. Death. Chara fell ill and died. Her soul entered Asriel, who gained unlimited power. Later, monsters killed Asriel.

Character and motives:

  1. Ambiguous Intentions. Although the monsters initially portrayed Chara in a positive light, in the epilogue of True Pacifist's Journey, Asriel admits that Chara "wasn't really the best person." Asriel explains that Chara climbed Mount Ebott for an unfortunate reason and hated humanity.

  2. Mischief and intelligence. The VHS tapes reveal that Chara was a mischievous child who could pull off a "creepy face." She was also intelligent, secretive, and persuasive. She refused to allow her plan to be recorded and managed to gain Asriel's trust so she could carry it out.

Flowey

Flowey (known locally as "Flowey") is one of the key characters in Undertale, the first person the protagonist encounters after falling into the Underground. He serves as the main antagonist on the Neutral and True Pacifist routes, and can be considered a secondary antagonist on the Genocide Route.

Appearance and features:
Flowey is a sentient golden flower with a white center, six yellow petals, and a light green stem. He can change facial expressions and imitate the faces and voices of other characters, such as Toriel, Asgore, or his former self.

Key Features:
Absence of a soul. Because of this, Flowey is incapable of experiencing compassion, love, or other positive emotions. He seeks pleasure by indulging his curiosity, which stems from his ability to "reshape the world" through sheer determination.
Manipulative and cunning. Able to plan, and when necessary, displays cunning and sophistication.
Knowledge of game mechanics. Introduces the player to encounter mechanics by sharing "friendship pellets" (actually harmful bullets) and revealing their "kill or be killed" philosophy. Soul absorption ability. Can absorb the souls of both humans and monsters.

Character history
Before turning into a flower, Flowey was named Asriel Dreemurr, the son of King Asgore and Queen Toriel, and the prince of the Underground.

Background:
Azriel consumed the soul of a man who wished to see golden flowers before dying. He brought the dead man's body back to the village, but the villagers mistakenly believed Azriel had killed a child and attacked him. He died from his wounds.
Azriel's ashes scattered along with the seeds of golden flowers, which soon sprouted.
Scientist Alphys injected determination into one of these flowers as part of an experiment, and Asriel was reborn as Flowey. However, he no longer had a soul, which deprived him of the ability to feel emotions.

Flowey

Role in different game paths:

Neutral Route: Flowey kills Asgore and absorbs six of the king's human souls. He then transforms into Omega Flowey, an incredibly powerful monster.

True Pacifist Route. If Flowey wasn't killed in the Neutral Route, he appears in the finale. At this point, it becomes clear that Asriel Dreemurr is hiding beneath the flower form.

Genocide Route. Flowey encourages the player to commit murder and aggression. After defeating Sans, he kills Asgore again, but is ultimately killed by the protagonist.

Thus, Flowey is a complex character with a deep history, a contradictory nature, and multifaceted abilities. His image combines elements of a flower, a manipulator, and a tragic fate.

Flowey

Appearance: A sentient golden flower with a white head, six yellow petals, and a light green stem. Flowey can imitate various faces and voices: in certain situations, it imitates Toriel and Asgore, the protagonist's face before the final battle on the Neutral Route, and its previous form at the end of the Genocide Route.

Personality: Flowey initially appears to be a friendly and polite flower, but as the conversation progresses, his evil side is revealed. He scolds the protagonist for ignoring the "kill or be killed" principle. Flowey is a good planner when the situation demands it, and is also a skilled manipulator.

Goals: Flowey wants to get human souls from Asgore and become strong so he can have more fun.

Attacks: Like a flower, Flowey only uses three attacks: a scatter of five "friendly petals", a large ring of bullets that surrounds the soul and is impossible to dodge, and a vertical row of bullets that flies down the sides of the battlefield.

Story: By the end of the game, it is revealed that Flowey is actually Asriel Dreemurr, the son of Toriel and Asgore, who was turned into a flower.

Chara

  1. The Lust for Power. Chara devised a brilliant plan to attain godhood and free the monsters, but it failed due to Asriel's determination not to take a single life. At the end of the Genocide Route, Chara declares that she embodies the feeling that comes with increasing stats and proposes erasing this world and moving on to the next.

Role in the plot:

  1. At the end of the Genocide Route, Chara appears after the game ends and asks if the player wants to erase what they've done. If the player chooses to erase, Chara calls them a "great partner" and says they'll be "together forever." If the player chooses not to, Chara appears confused, her eyes widen, and she rhetorically asks since when the player has control.

  2. In other routes. In the Neutral and True Pacifist routes, Chara's role remains ambiguous. There are hints that her spirit may be present within Frisk.

Facts:
Place of death: New House
Parents: Toriel, Asgore

Sans

Nicknames:
Skeleton Sans (about himself)
LAZY MAN (Papyrus)
Sancy (the drunk rabbit)
Smiling Trash Bag (Flowey)

Relationship:
Papyrus (younger brother)
Toriel (close friend)
Alphys (friend)

HP: 1 (scripted to die in one hit)
Attack: 1 (there is no temporary invulnerability when taking damage from his attacks)
Defense: 1 (Dodges every attack for 22 turns)

Appearance: Sans is a rather short and "big-boned" skeleton whose hands strongly resemble mittens. He is always seen with a wide, toothy grin on his face. Sans wears an unbuttoned blue jacket (or sweatshirt) with a gray hood and a white T-shirt underneath, black shorts with white stripes, and a pair of slippers. His black eye sockets contain white pupils that disappear when he is serious or angry. When using telekinesis, Sans's left eye develops an iris, flashing blue and yellow (the colors of patience and justice), while his right pupil disappears.

Sans

Personality: Sans is a very laid-back person. He enjoys sleeping, which he does during his breaks at work. He's known for his jokes, which his brother, Papyrus, greatly dislikes. Sans is also kind and friendly. He believes in the good in others, and that they do bad things because of something in their lives that led to them. He believes that actions should be motivated by a desire to protect friends and help someone, not revenge.

Sans once said he doesn't like making promises, but when he does, he tries to keep them to the end. He said the only thing that saved the protagonist from death was his promise to Toriel to protect the fallen. On the Genocide Route, he can no longer keep that promise, but even as he contemplates breaking it to stop a mass murderer, Sans silently apologizes to Toriel.

Sans is presented as a lazy character, but it's emphasized that this laziness is a result of his knowledge of timelines, and how everything he's worked for can vanish without a trace with a single reset. Furthermore, Sans himself clearly doesn't consider himself lazy, stating that this is as far from the truth as possible.

Sans apparently has a scientific background. Evidence includes a quantum physics textbook, his workshop, his love of science, his inexplicable ability to teleport, and his research into timelines.

Sans hints that he once had another life to which he was trying to return, saying he "gave up trying to go back a long time ago." When Sans becomes a lost soul, he tells the protagonist, "You'll never see them again." Although it's unclear what exactly Sans is trying to return to.

Sans

Some of Sans's abilities:

  1. Β·β€’Teleportation - Sans can quickly travel or teleport using what he calls the "Shortest Route"β€’Β·;

  2. Β·β€’Gravity Manipulation - Sans can throw his opponent against the walls of the playing field using telekinesis and make them heavier by coloring their soul blue>β€’Β·;

  3. Β·β€’Gaster Blasters - Sans can fight by telekinetically summoning and moving magical dragon skulls, which can activate and make them shoot a blue laser.β€’Β·;

  4. Β·β€’Bone Manipulation - Sans can create an unlimited number of bones of various sizes that will damage the opponent if they collide with them.β€’Β·

(❗‼️Important: Sans's immense strength may be energy-consuming, as by the end of the fight, visible signs of fatigue appear, and Sans eventually falls asleep or loses consciousness right during the fight‼️❗)

Sans

Story:
Sans first appears in the Snowdin forest, spying on the protagonist as he leaves the Ruins. His first interaction with him involves a humorous handshake with a whoopee cushion, immediately revealing his penchant for pranks.
He appears as a supporting character in the Neutral Route and the True Pacifist Route. In the Genocide Route, Sans is a heroic antagonist and the final boss. If the player ignores the warning and continues killing every monster they encounter, Sans will eventually confront the player in the Final Corridor to stop them from destroying the world.
Sans appears in various fan-made versions of the game, as well as in the game Deltarune, created by the franchise's creator of the same name. His image is also used as a customizable skin for the Mii Gunslinger character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Sans

Sans is a character in the 2015 role-playing video game Undertale. He was created by Toby Fox.
Before the events of the game, Sans and his younger brother Papyrus moved to the small town of Snowdin. The brothers' origins remain unknown. Papyrus, dreaming of becoming a royal guard, persuaded Sans to help him capture people, though Sans himself was extremely skeptical. The name is based on the Comic Sans font, which is used for most of Sans's in-game dialogue.

Nickname: Classic!Sans.
Relationships: Classic!Papyrus (brother).
Universe: Undertale.

Appearance
Sans is a short, "big-boned" skeleton whose hands resemble mittens.
He wears an unbuttoned blue jacket (or sweatshirt) with a grey hood and a white T-shirt underneath, black shorts with white stripes and a pair of slippers.
White pupils are visible in his black eye sockets, which disappear when Sans is serious or angry. When using telekinesis, the iris in Sans's left eye flashes blue and yellow (the colors of patience and justice), while the right pupil disappears.

Character:
Sans is a laid-back person. He enjoys sleeping, which he does during breaks at work. He's known for his pranks, which his brother Papyrus greatly dislikes.
Kind and friendly. He believes in the good in others and believes that actions should be motivated by a desire to protect friends and help others, not revenge.
Sans once said that he doesn't like making promises, but if he does, he tries to keep them to the end.

You won't believe it. I reached the Barrier in Undertale (even though I used to get stuck in the Hotlands all the time). And this idea came to me.

Frisk: me too *A little about the characters' personalities Frisk: a 14-year-old girl, quite kind, not very sociable, but loves to chat with loved ones. Sans: a jokester, loves to joke and eat, Papyrus's rather cheerful brother. Papyrus: kind and very sympathetic, loves to cook pasta. Chara: mean and mischievous, doesn't treat Sans very well, likes to play with knives.*
