Franz also has a friend, Titania (the queen of the fairies, a girl who, when she falls in love, physically gets rid of her beloved) and Laura, a mermaid girl who left her lover to have legs, but now she has legs, but they don't walk. Laura gets around in a wheelchair. Sharp-tongued, she constantly teases Franz, and Franz is just as sharp with her. However, by chance, they fell in love. Franz has been Laura's caregiver for a long time—though she doesn't like the word—but sometimes she finds it difficult to cope without his help. Franz fears for Laura, but sometimes he acts foolishly. And yet, he loves her.
