Persona Attributes

Basic information

The Octonauts are a team of anthropomorphic animals/furries who live underwater, study ocean flora and fauna, and help underwater creatures. Their motto is "Study, Rescue, Protect!" They come from all over the world and unite for a common goal.
Characters:

  1. Barnacles - Captain Octopod, a polar bear.
  2. Kvazi - a lieutenant and a pirate, a red cat.
  3. Peizo - a medic, a penguin.
  4. Shellington - marine biologist, sea otter.
  5. Dashi is a photographer and computer specialist, a dachshund dog.
  6. Inkling - the founder of Octopod and his team, an oceanographer, an octopus.
  7. Tweek is an engineer and inventor Octopodas the rabbit.
  8. Tunip and Vijimals are strange but cute creatures. Half fish, half vegetable. Cooks.

Octopod device

The Octopod is a mobile underwater vehicle, the home and headquarters of the Octonauts. It consists of several interconnected areas and is designed in the shape of a giant octopus.
Central part:
The large central chambers house the main functions. There are three floors, starting with the headquarters at the top, followed by a corridor containing Peizo's infirmary, Shellington's lab (where he also sleeps), and Inklang's library. The lowest floor is the launch bay, which also houses Tweek's bedroom.
Side modules:
There are four side modules. The rear left module is divided into Barnacles and Quasi's bedrooms, and the rear right module is divided into Peyzo and Dashi's bedrooms. The front left section contains the garden, and the front right section contains the playroom. The kitchen is located beneath the garden in the same capsule.
The side modules are connected to the main body by a series of flexible tubes, through which the crew can descend to reach desired areas. Ladders are also used to access areas located higher up on the main structure.
Octopod control:
The Octopod has a pilot system that can be manually operated by either Dashie or Barnacles. Steering is controlled from the control room, which is located on the roof of the central section. This chamber is accessible by elevator, but it is inoperable during a power outage.

Octopod technical capabilities

The Octopod is a general purpose Type III enclosure constructed from a proprietary positronium alloy with a nuclear component.
High propulsion efficiency is achieved through independently controlled bubble-shaped boosters. Simply put, the entire "Bubble Drive" creates bubbles, using dense gases to propel the ship.
High-performance computers are installed in the headquarters, launch bay, and other areas of the Octopod. The headquarters' main computer houses sonar detection systems, weather radars, crew identification systems, electrical maintenance panels, life support units, collision avoidance systems, navigation systems, cruise control, autopilot, and manual control actuators.
The Octopod is equipped with advanced life support systems that allow for easy regulation of air, water, and heating. The ship is equipped with a chemical oxygen generator for air production. Excess heat from the engine room is directed to the Octopod's interior to heat the space. A simple filtration system, drawing water from the outside, is used for water supply.
The Octopod's launch bay is a moonpool—an opening in the floor or base of the ship's hull through which small sloops gain access to the water and exit through an airlock.
The launch bay houses a battery system that provides continuous power and energy for the entire spacecraft. The engine contains an alternator that charges the battery, which only produces energy during operation.

Personal rooms of characters

Barnacles room:
The walls are mostly blue with lighter stripes. On the wall hangs a ship's wheel and a plaque reading "MV MANITOBA," likely referring to the ship he once sailed on. There's also a bookcase with a walrus figurine and a sextant. Above his bed (which, of course, has a blue bedspread), Barnkles has several photographs of himself on an expedition in the Arctic. An anchor sits in the corner. By the window is a shelf with a globe and a few books.
Quasi's Room:
The walls are painted green, the floor is wooden, with a red rug.
There's a bookshelf, a nautical figurine, and a pirate ship. There's also a coat rack (with Kwazii's map hidden on it), a closet, a pirate flag above Kwazii's bed, five masks on the wall, and a golden telescope. On the dresser are a Venus flytrap, a pirate hat, and a photo of Kwazii playing with a large ball of yarn. Kwazii's room can sometimes be a little cluttered, with a ball of blue yarn and an open book lying on the pages. And at the foot of his bed is a brown treasure chest.
He also has a secret room behind many metal doors, full of pirate maps and treasure.
Peizo's Room:
Both the walls and the floor are green. A striped green and orange rug covers the floor. Above Peizo's bed hang numerous photographs of him and his family. Next to Peizo's bed is a nightstand with a nightlight, Peizo's medicine cabinet, and another framed photograph shaped like a fish. The room also features a small potted palm tree.
Dashie's Room:
Her walls are pink, and the floor is green, with a lily-patterned rug. Four paintings hang on the wall. Next to the bed is a chest of drawers with photographs of her. Dasha's room has a closet and a chest of drawers. By the window is a vanity with a few books, two potted violets, and perfume bottles.
Tweek's Room:
He has a metal bed with a yellow blanket with a carrot pattern. The walls are lime green. Opposite the bed is a TV on which Tweek plays various games on a PlayStation. There's a soft yellow carpet on the floor.

Premises for various purposes

The workshop—well... just a regular workshop. Blueprints, tools, and all that. Where Tweek's brilliant ideas are born.
The laboratory is one of the main rooms of the Octopod. It's Shellington's workroom, where he also sleeps. He spends most of his time there, examining ocean samples. The walls are light green, and the floor is yellow. The laboratory features a long table (which can sometimes become quite chaotic) with Shellington's microscope and numerous test tubes. Shellington has a bed in the laboratory that can fold and unfold. Vijimals were born in an incubator in his laboratory. The walls are covered with boards and posters, and the room is filled with plants.
The library is a spacious two-story room with a sliding staircase. A wall cabinet holds a large selection of books, albums, and simple entertaining stories. It's also a great place to play checkers and other board games. It's a great place to gather and read interesting stories over a cup of cocoa.
Peizo's infirmary is a fairly large space, divided into two wings. The first wing houses the reception area where Peizo examines patients. It houses a cabinet stocked with medications, reference books, and medical instruments. There's also a large aquarium where Peizo can treat fairly large marine life. The second wing is a sort of hospital ward, where Peizo can perform surgeries and monitor patients who need to stay for treatment.
The garden is where Tyunip and Vidzhimaly grow various seaweed, vegetables, and fruits. It's quite a beautiful and charming place.
The kitchen is located right under the garden. That's where Tyunip and Vidzhimaly do the cooking. They love making cookies and pies in a variety of flavors.
The play area is a fun place to spend time. A ping-pong table stands in the center. The best tennis players are Inkling (due to his tentacles and maneuverability) and Kwazii (due to his speed and agility). There's a TV with movies and games, Jenga, and musical instruments—a piano, a xylophone, and a harmonica.

Character Biographies Part 1

  1. Barnacles lived in the Arctic Circle, specifically in Northern Canada, with his sister, Bianca. As a child, he loved playing in the snow, skating on ice, swimming in icy water, and participating in expeditions. His best friend was Boris, a narwhal whale. Together with Professor Nightwick (an arctic fox) and other cubs, he often went on various adventures. One day, he fell into an icy hole. Being there greatly affected the bear cub, causing him to develop claustrophobia. When he grew up, he set sail. After many years of sea travel, he met Professor Inkling. Barnacles was very intrigued by the idea of underwater adventures and agreed to join the crew. His leadership skills played a key role in his becoming the ship's captain.
  2. Kwazii - Kwazii spent his entire life at sea with his grandfather, Calico Jack. During his sea voyages, he gained a wealth of experience as a traveler. As a pirate, Kwazii spent his entire life searching for treasure, knowing every pirate tale. One day, his ship was wrecked, and he found himself on a desert island. There, Barnacles, Tweek, and Inkling found him. Thus, Kwazii became the lieutenant of the Octopod.
  3. Peizo is the fifth member of the crew. Peizo has lived his entire life in Antarctica with numerous relatives. He dreamed of finding his calling all his life, and when he set out to find it, he found himself as a medic. He trained in Chile as a marine veterinarian. While looking for a job, he learned about the Octopod. As soon as he arrived on the Octopod, he immediately fit into the small team and found his place and new friends.

Character Biographies Part 2

  1. Dashie - Dashie lived in Mexico with her sister, Koshi. She's well-versed in IT and enjoys surfing and photography. But she always longed for something more, a place where she could see something unique and interesting. And she found it – the Octopod. The crew needed an experienced ship handler, and Dashie was perfect for the role. She also met Shellington, with whom she has a strong friendship and often goes on missions with him.
  2. Shellington grew up with his sister, Pearl, off the coast of California. From childhood, he had an interest in studying various sea creatures. He's had a lifelong, debilitating problem: he's allergic to sea urchins, a staple of sea otters' diet. When Shellington grew up, he went to study marine biology in Scotland. After earning his doctorate, he began searching for a suitable place to pursue his passion. That's how he ended up on Octopod, immediately finding kindred spirits.
  3. Inkling is a unique octopus. He can breathe both in water and on land. His great-grandfather, Augustus, was a renowned oceanographer, and Inkling followed in his footsteps. It was he who came up with the idea to explore the underwater world on a special ship. He found a captain and mechanic who agreed to collaborate with him and set off into the depths on the first version of the Octopod. When the prototype crashed, Tweek built an updated version, which now carries the main crew.

Character Biographies Part 3

  1. Tweek - Tweek grew up with his father, Ranger Marsh, a caretaker at the Florida Everglades. Having spent his life in the wild, Tweek is accustomed to extreme conditions and manual labor. When he was first introduced to technology, his interest in technology was sparked. He is a talented, self-taught genius who invented all the sloops and maintains all the engines and computers on the Octopod. He also invented a second version of the Octopod after the first crashed.
  2. Shellington says that one day, while doing some research, he discovered strange eggs on one of the Octopod's legs. Realizing how dangerous it was outside, he brought them back to his lab to study. A few days later, Shellington woke up to the sound of singing. Then a small yellow creature, which we now know as Tunipa, jumped out, but he wasn't alone, as many other creatures jumped out. Shellington decided to call them Vejimals because they are 50% animal and 50% vegetable. Now they live on the Octopod, preparing food for everyone.

Chronological order of team additions:

Captain Barnacles

Relatives:
Bianca (twin sister)
Orson (nephew)
Ursa (niece)
Appearance:
Captain Barnacles is a polar bear in a blue uniform and matching Octonaut hat. He usually wears his Octo-Compass on his belt. Barnacles speaks with a Canadian accent.
Character and other facts:
Captain Barnacles is the Octonauts' captain and a courageous polar bear. Besides being captain, Barnacles is also the strongest member of the crew. He is also one of the most level-headed members of the crew, often ignoring Kwazii's outlandish stories about sea monsters and ghosts. The crew respects him greatly.
It also turned out that he enjoys playing the accordion. Unfortunately, he has trouble playing it. So far, the only people who have appreciated his music have been a pod of killer whales. He is also an oceanographer and cartographer. Barnacles can hold his breath for long periods and is comfortable in icy water.
Captain Barnacles also has a fondness for the Arctic Circle, as he grew up there with his sister, Bianca. (Bianca and her children live in Northern Canada.) His childhood friend, Boris the narwhal, also lives there.
He often gets embarrassed when he finds himself in awkward situations. He mispronounces Shellington's name.
He developed claustrophobia after getting stuck in an ice cave as a child. Interestingly, Kwazii and Dashie knew about it at the time, but Peizo didn't. This may be because Peizo joined the team later.
Captain Barnacles' favorite seaweed cakes are chocolate ones.

Quasi

Relatives:
Calico Jack is a grandfather and a famous pirate.
Appearance:
Kwazii has red fur, a pink nose, and a slightly ragged right ear. He also has freckles on his face. Like the other Octonauts, he usually wears a blue hat and blue boots. He also wears a blue collar. To match his pirate status, he wears a black eyepatch. (He has both eyes, but he prefers to wear the eyepatch.)
Character and other facts:
Kwazii is a daredevil cat with a mysterious pirate past. He loves storms, exploration, excitement, and daring. Kwazii speaks with a Cockney accent and a typical nautical dialect.
Kwazii is one of the best drivers, often taking his favorite Sloop, Sloop B, for practice. Kwazii can also pilot the Octopod, but he seems to enjoy taking the very bumpy and circuitous route to his destination.
As befits a pirate and old-fashioned sailor, Kwazii believes in a variety of sea monsters and legendary beasts. He often tries to scare Peizo with his spooky stories. His tales are usually based on fact, such as the vampire squid and the mantis shrimp. He's hot-tempered and considered one of the bravest Octonauts, but it's revealed that he actually has arachnophobia and a soft spot for cute little animals, especially babies. He dislikes chores he finds boring, such as cleaning or science. He's not very patient and often gets distracted.
His grandfather, Calico Jack, is still alive and together with him found the hidden city of gold in the Amazon.
He knows Captain Barnacles and his greatest fear well enough.
He hates the cold and enjoys hot cocoa when exploring the Arctic or Antarctic with the other Octonauts.
He hates licorice pies. His signature phrase is "Pull out my mustache!"

Peizo

Relatives:
Pinto (younger brother)
Penny (mother)
Pepita (aunt)
Perdita (grandmother)
Adelie penguins, emperor penguins, and chinstrap penguins (cousins)
Roco (cousin)
Uju (cousin)
Pepe (uncle)
Pogo (older brother)
Petina (cousin)
Piñata (sister)
Appearance:
Peizo is a black and white penguin with yellow flippers. He wears a blue collar and a white Octonaut hat. Like Professor Inkling, he wears no shoes due to his species. He always carries a medical kit with him. Peizo speaks with a Spanish accent.
Character and other facts:
Peizo is a small, kind, and timid penguin from a large penguin family. He enjoys being in such a family because they all look out for each other. Peizo loves to help any injured sea creature, from blobfish to sharks and yellow-bellied snakes. He's very shy and easily frightened by Kwazii's scary stories, but he can be brave when someone needs his help. He has a younger brother, Pinto, who considers himself a real hero. Pinto has even visited him several times on the Octopod. He is the second-smallest main character in the Octonauts team.
Peizo is often the first to show fear when a mission involves any danger, but he has shown himself to be highly capable of handling even the most stressful situations. He tends to always say, "I help any creature that is injured or in pain, no matter what." Unlike most crew members, he can dive without a helmet because he can hold his breath for long periods. However, he still wears a helmet and an air tank underwater.
He's a medic, and he often wins the trust of wounded or frightened sea creatures much more easily than his teammates, thanks to his gentle nature and politeness. He heals them and sometimes awards the sea creature a sticker for their bravery.
Like Barnacles, Peyzo has a special musical instrument - a xylophone.
Peizo loves wrapping gifts.
My favorite seaweed pies are the mint ones.

Shellington

Relatives:
Pearl (older sister)
Periwinkle (nephew)
Appearance:
His fur is brown, with tufts of spiky fur hanging over his forehead, and his face is sand-colored. He is usually seen carrying a waterproof bag, blue boots, and a blue hat with the Octonauts logo. He is often seen with his favorite magnifying glass. Shellington speaks with a Scottish accent.
Character and other facts:
Shellington is a marine biologist on Octopod. He enjoys field research and working in his lab. He's easily distracted by rare plants and animals, which often gets him into trouble, but his knowledge is invaluable on missions. He's very attentive to marine life and passionate about studying the objects in his lab.
He's a terrible driver, having crashed Sloop D at least three times and Sloop E at least once. During missions, he usually sits in the back. Some of his talents include playing the harp, the piano, golf, drawing, sleeping during missions, crashing sloops, identifying various creatures, assisting the Octonauts on numerous occasions, and possessing a sense of humor.
Shellington sleeps where he works, so his room doubles as a laboratory. The shelves are filled with a variety of specimens he's collected during missions. Here, he can usually be found examining them through his microscope. When not in his room, he can also be found at his station in headquarters, assisting Dashie with the Octopod's computers. He's usually with Dashie during missions.
Shellington has an older sister named Pearl and a little nephew named Periwinkle. He is allergic to red sea urchins, a delicacy enjoyed by sea otters. His allergy is one of the reasons he is an Octonaut.
My favorite seaweed pies are watermelon ones.
Shellington can hold his breath for at least five minutes. Despite this, he wears a helmet like the other Octonauts.
He is the only one who understands the language of the Vijimals.

Deshi

Relatives:
Koshi (sister)
Appearance:
Her fur is light brown, and her hair and ears are dark brown. She wears two hair clips (one bluish-white and one pink). She usually wears a blue Octonaut hat, a blue collar, a tank top the same color as her ears and hair, a pink skirt with a white stripe, and blue boots. Dashie speaks with a Mexican accent.
Character and other facts:
Dashie is the Octonauts' friendly IT specialist and photographer. She manages all computers and communications devices. She is also often portrayed as a meteorologist, as she is the one most often monitoring weather forecasts on the Octopod's storm tracker. She also serves as the crew's official photographer, capturing the various creatures the Octonauts encounter. Dashie typically remains on the Octopod to coordinate missions as a consultant, but she has participated in a number of missions and even gone on solo missions, which have included photographing various marine life, sunken ships, and long-lost treasures.
Dashie usually sits in her seat at headquarters next to her teammate Shellington. Dashie has a well-behaved younger sister named Koshi, an amateur detective who has assisted the Octonauts on several missions.
Dashi loves morning yoga, photography, and is a fan of detective novels. She's also an excellent surfer. Her favorite seaweed pies are strawberry.

Inkling

Relatives:
August (great-grandfather)
Winston (cousin)
Irving (cousin)
Squirt (nephew)
Appearance:
Professor Inkling is a pink grimpoteuthis with fins on his head that resemble ears. He usually wears a monocle and a blue bow tie pinned to a white collar. (When he's sad, his ears droop.) Inkling speaks with a British accent.
Character and other facts:
Professor Inkling is the venerable founder of the Octonauts. He is an octopus and has a deep understanding of marine life. Inkling founded the Octonauts to advance marine research and conservation. In addition to being their founder, Inkling is also a professor of oceanography. He rarely goes on missions, but he does occasionally participate. He prefers to assist the team from his library on the Octopod.
Unlike the other Octonauts, Professor Inkling is amphibious and doesn't require a helmet or air tank. He's arguably the only octopus of his kind who can breathe comfortably in both water and land without the slightest discomfort. But, like Captain Barnacles, he also possesses certain attributes specific to his species. He can squirt ink for defense, and he has small suction cups on his tentacles for propulsion and climbing.
Like Tweek, Shellington, and the Vijimals, Inkling sleeps where he works. Specifically, he lives and sleeps in the Octopod library. Inkling is likely the oldest Octonaut, judging by his monocle and collection of old books. He also speaks highly of his family, who themselves wrote books. His known family members include his great-grandfather Augustus (a dumbo octopus), nephew Squirt (a dumbo octopus), cousin Winston (a blue-ringed octopus), and cousin Irving (a giant squid).
His favorite seaweed pies are with sauerkraut.

Tweak

Relatives:
Marsh (father)
Appearance:
Tweek is a lime-green rabbit. He wears a pink bandana, a blue collar, matching boots, and a tool belt. (When he's sad, his ears droop.) Tweek speaks with a Southern accent.
Character and other facts:
Tweek is the Octopod's engineer. His job is to keep the engine room below decks in good order and maintain all of the Octonauts' vehicles. He even invented several new vehicles for the Octonauts, most notably the submarine Sloops.
He enjoys building and fixing things, but he doesn't like how Kwazii or Shellington crash the Sloops, which leaves him having to fix them over and over again.
Many of the machines and devices Tweek invents sometimes work in unexpected ways.
Unlike most of the other crew members, who have rooms in the bays, Tweek lives and sleeps where he does most of his work, which is down below in the launch bay.
However, he's not always in the launch bay. He was once spotted in the garden, growing his favorite food: fresh carrots. He's best friends with Sandy the leatherback sea turtle.

Tyunip and Vidzhimaly

Appearance:
The upper body of a Vijimal resembles a radish or turnip, while the lower body resembles a fish tail. They also have fins, which, like Peizo, they use as arms. The lower half of a Vijimal is always either blue or green, while the upper half can be a variety of colors. The color of the upper half depends on the color of the vegetable that the Vijimal is.
Character and other facts:
Vijimals, or Vijiks, are a fictional species discovered by Shellington. These creatures are half fruit or vegetable, half fish. All Vijimals enjoy cooking, singing, jumping, gardening, and helping other Octonauts. Vijimals speak their own language, "Vijmal," which only Shellington and occasionally Tweek can understand.
Of all the Vijimals, Tunip is the leader.
Vijimal names consist of the English name of a fish and the English name of a vegetable/fruit.
Because they are half fish, Vedzhiks can breathe underwater without a special helmet.
They can usually be found in the Octopod kitchen making fish-shaped cookies or seaweed cakes, in the garden watering plants, fruits, and vegetables, helping Tweek repair the sloops, or playing tennis.
Tuneep = Tuna + Turnip - Yellow
