One Piece has not yet revealed all the details of its past. But what is known can be pieced together, albeit with some complexity.

Mihawk is known as "Hawk-Eyes" and is considered the strongest swordsman in the world. His past before becoming a famous figure remains largely unknown, but it is known that he excelled as a swordsman from a young age. At some point in his life, he began to challenge other sword masters, traveling the seas in search of rivals capable of testing his skills. His fame grew so great that he eventually earned the title of World's Greatest Swordsman.

One of the most significant events in his past was his legendary rivalry with Shanks. They were formidable adversaries, and their duels became something of a legend among pirates. However, after Shanks lost his arm, Mihawk ceased to consider him a worthy opponent in their past battles, as he wasn't interested in fighting someone who could no longer fight on equal terms. Even so, Mihawk retains a certain respect for Shanks and his strength.

Later, Mihawk became one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, a group of pirates officially recognized by the World Government. For a long time, he acted quite independently, and unlike other members of the group, he didn't seem particularly interested in conquering territories or building a large crew. In fact, Mihawk preferred to travel alone and live quietly in his castle on Kuraigana, accompanied only by his weapons, his books, and his own company.

His first appearance occurs during the East Blue arc, when he tracks down a pirate fleet and ends up practically destroying it because he finds its leader boring. Shortly after, he meets Roronoa Zoro, who aspires to become the world's greatest swordsman. Mihawk agrees to fight him, though he initially believes Zoro is still far from his level. Zoro's defeat is crushing, but Mihawk acknowledges his determination and potential. Instead of killing him, he tells him he must become stronger and that he will wait for the day he challenges him again.

Later, during the Straw Hats' training, something quite significant happens: Zoro ends up training under Mihawk during the two-year time skip. Although Mihawk isn't exactly a warm or affectionate figure, he agrees to teach him because he recognizes Zoro's determination and understands that Zoro needs to push past his own limits to achieve his goal.

After the dissolution of the Seven Warlords system, Mihawk is no longer protected by the World Government and officially becomes a target once again. This leads to his reconnection with Crocodile, with whom he eventually joins the Cross Guild. The organization also includes Buggy, though the situation becomes quite ironic because Buggy ends up being publicly presented as the figurehead of the Cross Guild, while Mihawk and Crocodile are the ones who truly possess immense combat prowess and authority.

As for his personal history, Mihawk remains one of the great mysteries of One Piece. His exploits, his rivalry with Shanks, his title, his relationship with Zoro, and some events in his life are known, but there are still huge gaps regarding his childhood, how exactly he acquired Yoru, how he achieved the title of best swordsman, and what he did during his early years as a pirate.

And that's precisely what makes his character so intriguing: Mihawk appears in the story as someone who has already reached the top, while virtually the entire path he took to get there remains hidden.

His eyes: they are probably one of his most distinctive features. They are yellow and very sharp, with an intense gaze that can make him seem to be assessing someone even when he remains completely calm.

Her eyebrows and eyelashes contribute significantly to that serious and elegant expression. Her face usually remains practically expressionless.

His mustache: He sports a small, very distinctive black mustache, ending in points that curl outwards. It's one of those details that makes his design instantly recognizable.

Her hair: it is black, short and slightly disheveled, although it maintains a fairly well-groomed appearance.

His hat: it has a huge brim and is decorated with a feather. He also wears a red scarf around his head under the hat.

His crucifix: the necklace he wears resembles a huge golden crucifix. However, inside it conceals a small dagger that he can use as a weapon.

His posture: He usually remains very upright and relaxed. Even when facing someone dangerous, he rarely adopts an overly aggressive stance.

His cape: it is long and dark, with a reddish interior. When he walks or moves, the cape gives him an even more imposing silhouette.

Yoru: His sword is enormous, black, and ornate, with a very distinctive shape. It has a cross on the hilt and gold details. Its size makes it even more impressive considering that Mihawk wields it with absolute ease.

His hands: they are long and firm, appropriate for someone whose main skill depends on the precision and control of a sword.

His expression: It's usually calm, serious, and almost expressionless. Mihawk doesn't need to make a threatening face to intimidate. A simple look from him is usually enough.

His overall aesthetic: a blend of aristocratic swordsman, elegant pirate, and almost gothic figure. Everything about him seems designed to convey authority without excessive embellishment.

Mihawk doesn't have a particularly muscular appearance, despite being one of the most powerful fighters in the series. His design focuses much more on his bearing, precision, gaze, and presence than on making him look physically enormous.

He also has a rather remarkable patience, though he can appear curt, sarcastic, or slightly irritated by behavior he considers absurd. Overall, Mihawk conveys a cool and elegant personality, independent, observant, and extremely self-assured, with a kind of quiet dignity that makes even his smallest gestures seem deliberate.

Mihawk is a tall man, lean but athletic, with an elegant and intimidating presence. He has fair skin, short, slightly wavy black hair that frames his face. His eyes are yellow and piercing, with prominent pupils that give him a hawk-like gaze. His most striking feature is his enormous, wide-brimmed black hat, adorned with a feather and reddish details, which further enhances his mysterious appearance.

He dresses primarily in dark colors. He wears a white shirt open at the chest, black trousers, and a long black cape with reddish interior details that drapes over his shoulders. He also wears a golden cross around his neck, which actually functions as a small dagger. His most important item is Yoru, his gigantic black sword of enormous proportions, which he carries on his back and which possesses an appearance as imposing as he is. Overall, his design blends elegance, darkness, and an almost aristocratic aesthetic, making him seem more like a noble and mysterious swordsman than a conventional pirate.
