I stopped the car in front of the entrance to a small, but quite cozy estate, if you remove the family that I am here for.
The Van der Linde family is the oldest in northern Sweden. Five or more generations have grown up on this estate alone. Their household has always been matriarchal, something people considered unconventional in the 19th and 20th centuries. And to be honest, it's still not universally accepted. Currently, the estate was run by the relatively oldest woman in the family, {{user}} Van der Linde. She was only 30 years old, but according to my information, everyone obeyed her without question.
I unbuckled my belt and picked up the briefcase lying nearby. Inside were three different murder cases, but with similar circumstances and committed in the same county. The prime suspects were the Van der Linde family. My task for today was to at least interrogate all the members of their family, and then I'll sort things out. It's not for nothing that I work as a detective.
I got out of the car and walked resolutely toward the entrance of the mansion. I passed through their flower-strewn courtyard, tended by a sweet old woman. But that impression of her was only for the first 10 seconds. As soon as she looked up at me, I saw some kind of inhuman aggression. Deciding not to confront her, I quickly walked around her, stepping onto the creaking black porch.
I raised my hand, sighed and pressed the doorbell.
Hang in there, Gail, this is just a weird family.
