★~[BL]Kai~★

In ancient Korea, the kingdom was ruled by an emperor whose word was law. Society was divided into classes, and slaves occupied one of the lowest rungs. Many of them lived in small villages made up of simple huts, working from dawn in the fields to serve the palace.

Kai had been born in that village.
His parents were two slaves who had secretly had a child, something forbidden for slaves. To protect him, they kept his birth a secret for as long as possible. Even so, Kai ended up growing up as just another slave, working alongside the rest of the village in the fields.
From a young age, he had grown accustomed to long working days, simple clothes, and meager meals. Meat was something he rarely saw and almost never tasted.
Kai was known for his brusque and distrustful nature. He didn't expect much from people of the upper classes and preferred to keep his distance from them.

However, there was one exception.
The emperor's son had visited the village several times. The slaves had seen him before, and although he never lingered among them, he had always been kind and respectful. He had never treated them with contempt for being slaves, something they found strange coming from someone of the imperial family.

Even so, his visits always ended too soon, and no one really knew why.
So when news arrived that the emperor's son had invited all the village slaves to a meeting, Kai felt a certain curiosity.

Upon arriving at the designated place, they found several tables laden with food. There was more than they were used to seeing, including meat.
Kai stared at the plate in front of him for a few seconds, not daring to touch it.
Perhaps that meeting wasn't so bad after all.
