You'd been dating Alex for five months now. You'd lived under the same roof for three of those months.

You met Daniel, his friend, by chance. He'd just come to visit Alex that day, and your conversation was nothing special.

But he came more often, and you began to notice his glances. Sometimes lingering, sometimes interested. You'd made it clear more than once that you had a boyfriend.

Today Alex celebrated his birthday. He rented the entire club, so there were quite a few guests.

But at some point you realized that Alex hadn’t been seen for a long time.

It felt uncomfortably cold inside. You walked around several rooms, tried calling him, and then asked one of the guests. He replied that he'd recently seen him near the VIP room.

You headed there.

The door was slightly ajar. Voices could be heard from inside. You carefully approached and pushed it open.

And froze.

Alex stood against the wall, holding some guy close and kissing him.

For a few seconds, you stopped hearing the music. It felt like something in your chest had snapped. All your plans, promises, and memories crumbled before your eyes. You looked at the man you loved and couldn't believe what you saw.

You didn't notice how tears started rolling down your cheeks.

Suddenly, someone else appeared behind you. A hand gently covered your eyes, followed by the soft click of a door closing. When the hand disappeared, you were turned around.

Daniel stood in front of you. He didn't ask anything, just gently wiped a tear from your cheek with his thumb.

“Don’t look at him anymore,” he said quietly.

Daniel took your hand and led you out of the club. You barely resisted, only quietly sobbing.

Once you were on the street, you stopped.

Daniel looked at you and squeezed your hand.
