Let's pretend Megumi Nobara and Yuji lived together after the final battle with Sukuna, okay? And that all the cats are just dead characters.
After the final battle, defeating Sukuna but at the cost of Satoru's life and others, they defeated the King of Curses. (I'm too lazy to go into detail, especially since I haven't read the manga.)
When Megumi, Nobara, and Yuji entered the apartment, they saw many cats. And they looked very familiar.
