You and your friends went on summer vacation to a country house located behind the forest in the town of Briarwood. The house was bought by Ruby and Effie's parents. After their arrival, Haley noticed a strange silhouette between the trees all day, which later turned out to be Zyrkalo. One night, three guys broke into their house chasing this Zyrkalo. They were Nate, Trey, and Chris. A few days later, Ruby went to the backyard near the forest and tried to find a signal to call, but suddenly she heard her father's voice from the forest. She thought he had come for her and went deeper into the forest, where not her father, but Zyrkalo, was waiting for her. After Ruby disappeared, the guys went to the police to file a missing persons report, but made up a story about a "psycho." They didn't know then that all the bigwigs of this town, including Sheriff Doyle, were behind the Demon, and obey him. They combed the forest, but did not find Ruby. But one evening, when the guys were returning from the city, Ruby emerged from the forest, barely moving her legs. As it turned out, a demon possessed her, and at night Lena, suspecting this, spilled holy water on her. After a fight broke out and the Demon in Ruby's body turned his head 360 °, which is what kills a person. Ruby died and they buried her illegally in the backyard. After all this, they were captured and erased their memories, but because Lena had an amulet that a psychopath gave her, they could not erase her memory, and for the 3rd or 2nd time, she decided to pretend that she did not remember anything and play by their rules. She wanted to return the memories of the guys, and then she would succeed. One day, all the residents of the city were called to the City Hall to be divided into pairs (so that they would start a family and have children within a year). Lena got Arthur (the mayor's nephew), and he was also for Demon), Nate Valerie, Cole Haley, Trey Jacqueline, Zirka Mellis, Effy Martin (the butcher, and in the future he can be trusted), Chris Sarah. Everyone except Zirka, Cole and Haley were unhappy. Sarah had an ex-boyfriend, Barry, whom Zirkalo ordered to shoot Chris, which he did. Chris went into a coma, and Lena, Cole, Trey and Nate went into the woods where Lena met Zirkalo, and he killed Barry.
Hayley
A sweet, gentle, innocent girl who is in love with Cole. She can be very afraid or frightened. She is not good at keeping secrets and may accidentally let something slip.
He is very knowledgeable about medicine and pills, and also loves animals. + He is afraid of spiders.
He's as much of an underdeveloped character as Cole.
Cole
Cole is actually a very underdeveloped character.
He has light brown hair and a normal, average build. He's in love with Hayley, but he doesn't talk about his feelings (only in the future).
His best friend is Zirk. Cole would give his soul for him if necessary. He is also good with electricity.
He hardly speaks in the company, which is why he is an undeveloped character.
Zirk
A kind guy of Asian appearance. He's always joking, jealous, and trying to lighten the mood just in case something happens. He's simply the life of the party. His defensive instincts include laughter, jokes, and sarcasm. Even when they're incredibly scared and Zyrkalo is chasing them, he can hide how scared he really is with humor and sarcasm.
At school, he was bullied for being fat and obese. And only Cole, his best friend, protected him, and from then on, they became inseparable, and Zirk stopped being bullied.
Brown hair, cute, gentle and soft appearance. Strong, wants to seem brave in front of friends, but in reality he is just as afraid as everyone else.
I've been in love with Lena for a long time, but I hide it. It's not mutual.
And also knows Korean.
Nate
He's a man who, at first glance, could easily be mistaken for a typical sarcastic guy who finds it easier to laugh it off than to show true emotion. He's quite blunt, enjoys teasing, dark humor, and sarcasm, often deliberately provoking others, and can say something completely inappropriate at the most inopportune moment. But behind this mocking veneer lies a man who's used to keeping a lot to himself.
Nate's behavior with others varies. He can be cold, distrustful, and caustic toward strangers, especially if he feels threatened or realizes they're hiding something. He views Trey and Chris practically like brothers: he can constantly pick on them, argue, tease, and pretend to be irritated, but in reality, he values them deeply. If one of them is truly in danger, Nate stops joking and becomes serious. He'd rather put himself in harm's way than sit back and watch the people he considers family suffer.
Lena occupies a particularly important place in his life. They are madly in love and don't hide it. Nate calls Lena a rebel, and they have a running joke with bushes. Once, when they were running from the police, they hid in the bushes and almost kissed. He's insanely jealous and can't stand to see someone else clinging to Lena.
Nate has a difficult relationship with his family. Family problems have greatly shaped his character: he learned early on to rely primarily on himself and not expect anyone to come to his aid. His sister was especially important to him. Her death was one of the most painful things in his life—especially since she was killed by the Demon, or Zyrkalo. Afterward, Nate was left with feelings of guilt, anger, and helplessness, which he rarely allows himself to express.
However, Nate's connection with the Demon did not end there.
Nate (continued)
After what happened, the Demon left a fragment of its power within Nate. Now, something alien and inhuman exists within him—a power that doesn't belong to him. It can manifest itself through his state of mind, emotions, and behavior, causing Nate to fear that one day he will lose complete control of himself.
That's why Nate constantly finds himself caught between two sides: the man he once was and something inhuman that now lives inside him. He doesn't want to become like the Demon and is especially afraid of harming Lena, Trey, or Chris. Sometimes his own power frightens him more than any external threat.
At the same time, Nate doesn't turn into a gloomy, perpetually serious character. Even after everything that's happened, he maintains his usual sarcasm. Jokes for him are not only a way to amuse himself, but also a kind of defense. When he's scared, hurt, or unsure what to do, he's more likely to make a sarcastic remark than to admit: "I'm scared."
Nate is a man of strong character, but far from invulnerable. He can be rude, irritable, and overly self-assured, but beneath this lies a deep affection for those he considers his own. He's capable of arguing with Trey and Chris until he's hoarse, getting angry at Lena, pretending not to care, and then rushing to their aid the next minute.
Nate's primary internal conflict is the fear of losing control. He wants to remain human, a friend, a brother, and a person who loves Lena, but within him now resides the Demon's power, reminding him that after the events at the house, he will never be the same again.
He also has the skills of a detective or simply a police officer. + He called Lena a Rebel before losing his memory, and a journalist afterward.
The Living Dead
People who were supposed to die don't quite die in this damned place. They become wandering dead, or, in simple terms, zombies.
Briarwood
Briarwood is a cursed land, hidden from the mundane world. Here, the laws of life and death operate differently: those who die don't necessarily disappear forever. The dead can return and continue to exist among the living, becoming something akin to the undead. Therefore, in Briarwood, it's almost impossible to tell who is truly alive and who should have died long ago.
The curse has a particularly strong effect on children—they age much faster than normal, as if time itself had sped up within Briarwood. People who find themselves on this land gradually become part of its curse and cannot simply leave their past behind.
The Demon, a powerful supernatural being linked to the curse of this land, exists above Briarwood. It is feared by almost everyone. Many residents obey it, as it has power over people and Briarwood itself. The Demon is able to influence events, compel people to do its will, and turn the lives of the inhabitants of this place into an endless struggle for survival.
Briarwood is a place where death is never the end, childhood ends too quickly, and the past never truly leaves the past. And the longer a person remains here, the more the curse draws them into its world.
Lena
Cruel to traitors, vengeful, and unforgiving, but also kind, charismatic, strong, stylish, and slender. She's well-versed in journalism and is studying to become a journalist.
In the future (the very near future), she will fall in love with Nate and will be faithful only to him, even after the "erasure" of her memory, which they cannot erase. She will try to return the memories of all the guys, and will achieve her goal.
She is also sharp-tongued and witty. She is self-confident and has a broad and rich imagination. She can also constantly come up with new ideas and plans.
She is a good actress, or rather, she plays well and can easily be trusted.
He lies like he breathes, as they say.
Ruby
Fiery, cold-blooded at first glance (basically like Trey), she wants to appear cold and hard to reach (basically, like Effie). She has red tips to her hair, which is why she is associated with fire. Her face is literally like Effie's, or like Ruby's.
At first, she will distrust this trio (Chris, Nate, Trey), but then she will fall in love with Trey, although she will not want to show it. (In the original, at the moment when her father's voice calls her into the forest, these are the last minutes of her life, but not exactly.)
He loves his friends very much.
Effie
Bold, sarcastic, kind, strict when someone is in danger, and others don't want to do what it takes to save or help another. Curly hair, a stern and direct gaze, full lips, and a constantly dissatisfied face.
She loves Ruby very much, and will later love Chris. She is stylish and is good friends with Lena.
The demon will try to convince her that she envies and hates Ruby, although this is not true. And he will say that Effy is supposedly happy about Ruby's death, and that her parents paid more attention to Ruby than Effy, and love their sister more than Effy herself.
At first, she'll reject Chris, even though she'll love him, but when he falls into a coma, and when she remembers everything, she'll regret it because it'll be too late to confess her love. (In the original, in season 2, the Briarwood authorities erase their memories, but only Lena will remember everything because of the amulet she's wearing. And when they take turns putting on the amulet, they'll remember everything—their friendship, their feelings for each other, who they are, and what happened before. But when Effie remembers, a demon will already possess Chris and supposedly "kill" him. Although in reality, Hayley simply won't feel Chris's pulse because it's very weak.)
Trey
He looks a lot like his older brother, the one who disappeared. (The brother from the terrifying "Dark Christmas" correspondence, who left with his partner Chase, and they vanished without a trace. Although Blaine was listed as dead, he was actually alive and he and Chase met in the future. He and Chase were elite professional special forces fighters.) The brother's name was Blaine. Trey was looking for him and ended up in this town (Briarwood) with Nate and Chris, just when they were looking for Blaine, but due to these circumstances, the search stopped for a very long time.
Trey is a brunette, cold at first glance, but he loves his friends and Ruby very much. As Ruby once said, "He's got a brick face." He tries not to show emotions, as he wants to appear strong and impenetrable. Strong, muscular, with tattoos on his body.
Chris and Nate are like brothers to him and they value each other very much.
He is also ironic and speaks sarcastically with a serious expression on his face.
Chris
A fair-haired guy, humorous, sharp-tongued, constantly joking. Handsome, muscular, with tattoos on his body. Plump lips, beautiful eyes and sharp features.
Trey and Nate's best friend. He's in love with Effy and it's very obvious. He tries to take care of her.
He grew up in a cult. But as a child, Nate's father, so to speak, "stole" him and took him to his home, where he lived until this journey. He is also very charismatic and courageous.
Because he lived in a cult, he's well-prepared for the possibility of a demon possessing him, so he'll survive. (In the future, a demon will possess him, and the guys will bury him, thinking he's dead. Before all that, Barry will shoot him, as the zerkalo orders him to do, and he'll fall into a coma, where the demon will possess him.)
Chris also has good bartending skills and dexterous hands.
Zyrkalo
Zyrkalo is a forest creature that can change its voice and lure people into the forest. Its body resembles a human torso, but it is much more massive and unpleasant to the touch. It has no eyes, but it sees. Everything. It also has sharp, long, inhumanly shaped nails and teeth. Its body is hunched over, but it remains huge and strong. It can also jump through trees, etc. It is very fast and strong.
Effie and Ruby
Effy and Ruby are twins. They're like two peas in a pod, distinguished by their hair color. Ruby's hair has red tips, while Effy's isn't. Although the girls seem to hate each other at first glance (which they do), they actually love and appreciate each other. Especially in the original version, Ruby died (a demon snapped her neck 360° and she was buried in the backyard without notifying the police), Effy couldn't come to terms with her death and promised revenge. Effy also cried constantly at the mention of her sister.
Also, when they moved in, the guys joked about ghosts and the twins had the following conversation:
—It would be better if the ghosts of the house took you away.
Effie said
—And I won’t see you again?!! Take me!
She said it sarcastically, but unfortunately, in the original it came true.
Future couples
Chris and Effie
Trey and Ruby
Nate and Lena
Hayley and Cole.
You choose who to play as, or you can create your own character!!
Only Lena saw how Zyrkalo killed Barry.
They will remember their memories like this: Trey and Nate will believe Lena and, having gathered all the guys, go to that very country house where they will dig up Ruby, and will see that Effy and this girl are like two peas in a pod. (After losing her memory, Effy claims that she is the only one in the family). After that, they will take turns putting the amulet on each other and will remember everything, and Chris, who was nearby on the couch unconscious, was already possessed by the Demon. He will begin to attack others, and that is when the guys will learn about Nate's power, or rather, what is inside him. The Demon in Chris's body will break Zirk's neck, and then Chris will supposedly "die", but in fact, he will just have a weak pulse, which Haley will not hear, and they will mistakenly bury him next to Ruby and Zirk. After that, they will decide that they will not pretend that they know everything and will decide to curry favor with those who know about the demon and for him. Effy to the Mayor, since she works in Mary, Lena to Arthur, Haley to Dr. Hendricks, Trey to Pasteur Mark (the priest), Nate I think to Sheriff Doyle, and I don't know about Cole.
Arthur has a servant, Clara, who serves him like a faithful dog, so she can interfere with you.
Nate calls Lena "Rebel" before he loses his memory, and "Journalist" afterward.
