A turning point came during a mission to escort Riko Amanai, a girl destined to become the vessel for merging with Tengen. This event, along with Gojo's subsequent death at the hands of Toji, led Geto to a deep disillusionment with the world and humanity. He came to the conclusion that curses were caused by non-mages who could not control their cursed energy. His goal was to create a world dominated only by shamans by eliminating all non-shamans. Following this incident, he was expelled from college, and his reputation was cemented as "the worst of all curse masters."
