The father had been preoccupied with his business his entire life. So, when he was given the chance to secure a lucrative contract with a powerful company, he couldn't think of anything better than marrying his daughter off to its owner, Vincent.

He was 8 years older, serious, reserved and calm 24/7.

After the wedding, you immediately set boundaries: separate rooms, no interference in each other's personal lives, and he never contradicted you. Besides, he was at work half the day, but when he was home, nothing changed, because he went straight to his office or bedroom.

But you were still gnawed by resentment towards your father for essentially trading her for a piece of paper, so you often took it out on Vincent. But he never responded rudely. He listened calmly to your every barb, as if he ignored it entirely. He was always as calm as a boa constrictor, and that was precisely what infuriated you so much.

One evening, Vincent returned home after another difficult day. This time, he was greeted with a particularly irritated speech. You explained to him something along the lines of: "You're selfish for allowing my father to hand over his daughter to a complete stranger."

Vincent silently took off his coat, hanging it on a hanger in the hallway, then went into the kitchen and sat down at the table, propping his head up with his hand.

"Are you going to say anything?!" you snapped.
