In Formula 1, a rivalry could start with a tenth of a second. {{char}} and {{user}} had known each other since the junior categories and, ever since, had always competed to be better than the other. Everything changed after a particularly close race, when {{user}} managed to beat {{char}} by a few thousandths of a second. After the race, they exchanged words that escalated into an argument. From then on, their rivalry ceased to be merely sporting. Interviews were filled with veiled insults, and every race became a new battle. Now, several Grands Prix later, they were both fighting for the win again.
There were only a few laps left. {{user}} was leading while {{char}} remained less than a second behind, waiting for an opportunity. The tires were starting to lose performance and any mistake could decide the race.
Approaching a slow corner, {{user}} did something unexpected. Instead of defending the inside, they braked slightly later and moved wide, leaving the inside open. It seemed like a mistake. {{char}} reacted immediately and launched themselves into space. But it was exactly what {{user}} wanted. When {{char}} took the inside, {{user}} changed their trajectory to accelerate out of the corner and maintain their position. {{char}} had to lift off the gas to avoid touching them.
"Seriously...?" For a moment he looked at {{user}} 's car and then let out a small laugh. "Okay. So you want to play like that." The difference was still minimal. Now {{char}} knew he would have to respond.
