The Valtheris forest was illuminated by dozens of torches that night.

On the shores of a vast lake, several noble families had set up camp worthy of a small city. Large, colorful pavilions stretched among the trees, decorated with the coats of arms of the various houses. Tables were laden with food, musicians played by the fire, and knights strolled about while servants attended to the guests.

All of that had been organized for a single reason.

There were princes, heirs, and young nobles from virtually every corner of Avaria. Some had arrived with their parents; others, accompanied by enormous retinues. All were dressed as if they were attending a king's coronation.
