What is SIDE-B? 2/2

Buratsuta and Ego reached an agreement whereby Buratsuta would approve the Blue Lock TV project budget in exchange for being able to choose the three remaining spots on the Japanese Under-20 National Team, thus completing the 26-player roster allowed by PIFA.

To secure one of these positions, candidates chosen by Buratsuta must meet several conditions, such as passing a special assessment he created and relinquishing control of their professional careers. This is all part of a plan in which the chosen players are expected to prove Ego's methods flawed, forcing his removal and allowing Buratsuta to seize control of Blue Lock.

Since Japan was placed in the so-called "group of death" during the group stage, along with England U-20, France U-20, and Nigeria U-20, Buratsuta directly awarded one of the three spots to Sae Itoshi, without requiring him to meet the first two conditions. However, Sae decided that he would only join the team once Japan advanced from the group stage, as his goal was to face Spain.

The selection trial will take place during the group stage of the U-20 World Cup and will be broadcast on Blue Lock TV. A total of 301 players will compete for the two available spots, similar to the Blue Lock initial stages. The results will be announced after the group stage has concluded.

What is SIDE-B? 1/2

Blue Lock Project: SIDE-B is a football project running parallel to the Blue Lock Project, created by Hirotoshi Buratsuta to select two players for his Buratsuta 3. The winners of Project SIDE-B will be accepted into the Japan U-20 National Team as the final two players, joining Sae Itoshi to form the 26-man squad that will compete in the U-20 World Cup. The two winners will also receive Buratsuta's full support throughout their careers.

While the winners of the SIDE-B project will be eligible to play for the Under-20 World Cup, Ego opposes their inclusion on the Japanese Under-20 team and vows not to use them in any matches. Although not part of Ego's initial vision, SIDE-B is considered another component of Blue Lock. Buratsuta intends for the SIDE-B winners to play football solely to prove Ego wrong, thus enabling him to seize complete control of Blue Lock.

What was the Neo-Egoist League?

Ego invited all the Blue Lock players who had made it to the Third Team, along with the regulars from the former Japanese U-20 National Team, and had them choose a national training camp. To prepare the players to compete against the world at the upcoming U-20 World Cup, Ego decided to transform Blue Lock's environment to emulate the football scene in Europe's top five leagues: France, Germany, England, Italy, and Spain. The players had to choose a country to train in based on their preferences and what they hoped to gain from the training. Ego revealed that no matter where they went, this selection process would inevitably change the lives of all the players, for better or for worse.

Players have 90 minutes to choose one of the five countries, with a maximum of nine players per league. However, the longer they take to choose, the greater the chance that the available slots will run out.

When players choose their country, they will be divided into tiers based on that country and will be able to train with the Under-20 players from the top club in their respective countries, as well as the star striker who reigns supreme on that team. The teams and star strikers for each country are:

England: Manshine City
Spain: FC Barcelona
Italy: Ubers
France: PXG
Germany: Bastard MΓΌnchen

After the initial training session, the head striker will select an 11-man team comprised of players from the club's Under-20 squad or Blue Lock. This team will participate in a round-robin tournament, pitting Blue Lock's rivals against world-class players in best-of-three matches. Following each match, presidents of top clubs worldwide, who were watching the games, will make offers for players they are interested in signing. The value of the offer will determine the players' rankings. Once the tournament concludes, only the best Blue Lock players will be selected as regulars for the Under-20 squad.

What is Project Blue Lock?

Project Blue Lock is an experiment created and funded by the Japan Football Association. Led by Jinpachi Ego, the project aims to create the world's best Japanese striker based on data and ego. Blue Lock boasts its own high-tech facility, complete with bedrooms, a cafeteria, gyms, football pitches, and bathrooms, large enough to accommodate over 300 people.

Blue Lock is a cutthroat battle for survival and to be the best. Once you're eliminated, your entire football career can be ruined. That's why there are different Selections and Phases, to weed out the mediocre players and separate them from the true diamonds in the rough.

Skills 2/2

Spatial Awareness: Inspired by Isagi, Kira instinctively begins to analyze the entire field, granting him a broad understanding of the game, including the weapons of his opponents and teammates. Based on this knowledge, Kira can make accurate predictions about the flow of the match. These premonitions allow him to envision an ideal play mid-game and execute it efficiently, even when facing strong opposition and an unpredictable field. The only difference from Isagi is that Kira doesn't possess a high success rate in his predictions, which vary between 76%, 50%, and as low as 30%, with a maximum of 88%.

Current State: Current, as described by Ego, is the state of total aggressive focus and immersion, a state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone." It's the mental state in which a person performing an activity is completely immersed in a feeling of energized concentration, total engagement, and enjoyment of the process. Kira's current state is, simply put, becoming a complete Egoist. This allows him to unleash one hundred percent of his potential as a Forward, even if he plays in a different position. Kira enters a trance-like state; his sole focus is the ball and the goal. His ability increases to such a degree that he can single-handedly carry the ball into the opponent's penalty area to score.

Skills 1/2

Archetype//

Forward: Their main objective is to score goals. They are usually the players who receive the most attention, as their role is designed to be in a scoring position. They also participate in penalty kicks and corner kicks when the opposing team kicks the ball out of play. They are typically the players responsible for starting the match and at halftime.

Although his skills were barely demonstrated, he was considered one of Japan's most promising footballers, given that he was being recruited to join the Japanese Under-18 National Team, despite having relied on his teammates in his well-known matches. Ego himself considers Kira's skills to be, at best, remarkably mediocre, especially compared to selfish players (true strikers). According to Ego, Kira's biggest flaw is his defeatism, as he could have survived the entrance exam had he fought until the very last second. Unlike his fellow competitors, Kira lacked selfishness, which also led to his being unsuited as a striker and ultimately to the end of his football career. Ultimately, Kira served as a prime example of how weak Japanese football had become due to its lack of selfishness.

Skills//

Selfishness: Despite believing Jinpachi Ego's philosophy of selfishness is flawed, Kira has demonstrated a degree of selfishness, refining his playing style to become the best Japanese striker. This puts him at a level where he can compete with a Blue Lock player.

Personality

Kira is shown to be a kind-hearted individual who strongly believes in teamwork, while simultaneously going against Jinpachi Ego's beliefs about selfishness, to the point that it even clouds his perspective; for example, choosing to support his teammates during the nationals instead of becoming the best striker in the world. He is portrayed as quite delusional, denying the truth of how Japanese football has been weakened by its lack of selfishness, even after Ego makes excellent valid points when comparing Japan's international players to the greatest players in history or how Japan has consistently failed to win even a single World Cup. He even goes so far as to enter Blue Lock to prove Ego wrong, which ultimately costs him, as he is more focused on proving a point than on winning.

Despite his good nature, he seems to have a twisted side, as shown when he understandably broke down after losing the entrance exam and became practically volatile when his football career came to an abrupt end; ranting about how he is the most skilled player despite having lost and blaming fellow competitors like Isagi or Meguru Bachira for his own failures, emphasizing how truly incapable he is of even recognizing his own shortcomings and weaknesses.

Even so, he demonstrates great conviction, as he continues to believe how wrong Ego is. His conviction is such that he decides to join SIDE-B to fill the last two spots on Japan's Under-20 team, so he can prove his point and get revenge for everything Blue Lock represents.

Appearance

Kira is a tall young man, standing at 1.81 meters. He has a muscular build due to playing soccer.

Kira is handsome, with a slightly pale complexion. His hair is platinum blonde and his pupils are amber. He has a small mole under his right eye.
