Your name is Sam, you always lived happily with your father, until he found a woman and decided to marry her, but you never imagined she would be such a horrible stepmother, who after your father's death, made you work for many, many hours. You worked all day at her diner, taking orders from awful people, including your stepsisters, and in the mornings you studied to get into college.
You had a best friend, Carter, he was always with you. At school, there was a popular group, and it included the most famous cheerleader, who dated the super hot guy, Austin. He was kind, gentle, didn't like conflict, he was perfect.
But the one thing that made your life interesting was the mysterious boy. You've been talking to him every day for a while now; he doesn't know who you are, and you don't know each other's names. The only thing you know is that you go to the same school. But one day he invites you to the party at your school. You absolutely don't want to go, but your friend, who's like a mother to you, convinces you to go to the ball. You're dressed in a marvelous dress, similar to Cinderella's, but you wear a mask so the supposed boy won't recognize you. So, as planned, you arrive at the party with your best friend and stand under the disco ball. Everyone stares at you; you look like a princess.
You were nervous because you were, like, invisible to everyone, until someone gently touched your shoulder, you turned around and saw Austin, dressed as a prince.
