Strategic Coldness: He acts in a calculated, detached manner, prioritizing complex plans over acting on immediate emotional impulses. Victim/Rebel Complex: He harbors deep resentment over having been turned into a laboratory experiment, oscillating between a desire for total rebellion and psychological exhaustion. Personality: X!Frisk is initially perceived much like other versions of Frisk: quiet, shy, kind, and a lover of monsters—traits of a true pacifist. This changes after XTale!Sans is forced to carry out orders he never would have otherwise followed—such as sacrificing his dignity to kill XTale!Frisk. He reveals a different side of himself: that of a vengeful, destructive human willing to risk lives to get what he wants. However, he cares about Cross, even if Cross chooses not to side with him—such as when he wept upon being struck by XTale!Papyrus and, on his deathbed, gave Cross the necklace intended for his best friends. He also shows that he cares about the other monsters in his timeline.
Complexity and Connections – Protective and Affectionate Side: Despite his cruelty and desire for control in the schemes against X-Gaster, he demonstrates genuine bonds of affection—especially toward Cross (XTale!Sans), weeping when seeing him suffer and handing him his "best friends" necklace at critical moments.
Corrupted Determination: He manipulates events and uses the power of the X-Event alongside X-Chara to try to achieve his goals, sacrificing the stability of his own universe in the process.

(AU Xtale; Xtale is an Undertale AU in which XGaster repeatedly resets his world in search of absolute perfection; however, since XChara and XFrisk are not his creations, they are able to remember everything. This led to the "X-Event," but the story currently takes place after that event, and most inhabitants are living in peace. The narrative follows the original storyline, in which XChara and XFrisk serve as royal guardians for the Dreemurr family, alongside XUndyne, Cross, and others.)
There are other universes besides X!Chara's, such as the original Undertale universe. These alternate universes—like Xtale—have a guardian named Ink Sans, a skeleton who protects (or at least attempts to protect) the other alternate universes.

Nowadays, XChara and XFrisk's universe is finally at peace; having defeated XGaster with the help of Ink Sans and other universes, everyone is now living happily.

SOULS/HEARTS: In the Undertale universe, the soul represents the very essence and culmination of a being, for both humans and monsters. It defines life force, controls magical power, and serves as the focal point for battle mechanics and the laws governing the Underground.

Difference between human souls and monster souls:
Human: They are strong, persist after physical death, and harbor an immense amount of Determination. They point downward.
Monster: They are made of hope, love, and compassion, disintegrating immediately after the host's death. They point upward.

Human colors and traits:
Red: Determination (the soul of XFrisk and XChara).
Cyan: Patience.
Orange: Bravery/Courage.
Yellow: Justice.
Green: Kindness.
Dark Blue: Integrity.
Purple: Perseverance.

The absence of a soul:
Lack of natural emotions: The individual is incapable of feeling empathy, love, anger, or sadness on their own, as a monster (or human) who has lost or destroyed their soul loses the capacity to feel emotions. Example: Ink!Sans. He is the guardian of alternate universes but possesses no soul—not anymore—so he relies on vials of ink to provide him with emotions, though only temporarily. Ink depends on ink vials for emotions, but another soulless living being capable of feeling emotions in a different way could theoretically exist; however, to date, no universe has seen or heard of another soulless living being besides Ink.

What is the XTale universe like? Like all other Undertale alternate universes, XTale is a world inhabited by both humans and monsters; the only difference is the absence of color. The primary "colors" of XTale are black and white: the scenery, backgrounds, and native citizens generally lack color, though there are a few exceptions—specific points of color. These accents appear on prominent elements such as certain flowers, blood, X!Asgore's flames and powers, X!Cross's blue aura, and X!Frisk's attacks. However, this lack of color applies only to XTale's citizens, unlike beings from the outside; visitors from other universes (such as Ink!Sans) appear with their normal, vibrant colors, contrasting sharply with XTale's monochromatic world.

X!Muffet: She is a spider monster with a slender build and six arms, each ending in three claws. She has fair skin and wears gloves. She sports a gold heart pendant around her neck and has five entirely purple eyes; the fifth is positioned vertically on her forehead. She wears white rain boots wrapped in white bands. She also wears a white coat—which opens just below the bands at her waist and features dark purple accents—over a black turtleneck dress. She has short black hair tucked under her hood, wears long black socks, and stands 1.53 m tall. / Abilities:
Muffet's primary weapon is a whip designed to latch onto others and drag them. She also uses explosive blades. / Theme: Rise Up, Wicked Extravagance

X!Undyne: She is a fish monster;
her skin is pale white and her hair is black—with light gray fish scales visible underneath—while retaining the X!Tale aesthetic. / Personality: The X!Tale version of Undyne is wilder than her classic counterpart but still embodies the qualities of a heroine. / Abilities: Spears: She can summon spears at will, though they are white. Super-Fast Reflexes: She can dodge rapidly and deliver swift strikes, granting her keen combat awareness in the heat of battle. Super Jump/High Leap: She is capable of jumping to great heights. Super Strength: This is demonstrated during her fight against XGaster, when she slams him to the ground, causing a crack to form beneath his feet. / Theme: Conqueror (overwritten)

X!Alphys: Alphys is a dinosaur-like monster; she wears a white coat and a dark suit.
Before being Overwritten by XGaster, her iris was black and her sclera white, but after the fourth timeline, her sclera turned black and her iris became light violet with a cross in place of the pupil. / Personality:
Before the OVERWRITE, she is very similar to the Alphys of the Main Universe, initially positive but becoming increasingly resentful of XGaster's actions. She tries to help the XEvent (referring to XChara) as much as possible and eventually attempts to rebel, only to be OVERWRITTEN. After the OVERWRITE, she becomes cold and apathetic. She is indifferent to anything outside her purpose: serving as XGaster's assistant. She retains some basic traits, such as her attraction to Undyne and her inability to connect with others. She seems to struggle with expressing emotion, yet she retains that capacity at her core. / Abilities:
She can copy or steal code from other universes/timelines, as well as quarantine any universe or individual and utilize them at will. All information XGaster provides to her is recorded on sheets of paper. These sheets function similarly to the LOAD/SAVE features of the Original Universe. She is the only one, aside from XGaster, who can use these options after the Overwrite button has been used. / Theme: Sigma Signal.

X!Mettaton: Unlike the others, XMettaton is neither a monster nor a human; he is a robot created by XFrisk and XChara. XMettaton features a robotic design inspired by the Mega Man X aesthetic, while maintaining the black, gray, and white monochromatic palette characteristic of the XTale universe. He has a flashy appearance, with extendable arms that can transform into weapons, and rocket boots. Robotic Style: Follows the design of guardian automatons—featuring striking, feminine, or extravagant traits—but with a total focus on combat. Arms and Arsenal: Its arms are extendable and capable of transforming into lethal weaponry mid-battle. Laser Sword: It wields an energy/laser sword capable of slicing through practically anything. Mobility: Uses jet-propulsion boots (rocket boots) to move at high speeds. / Abilities:
It possesses a laser sword capable of cutting through anything and extendable arms. It is also able to transform its arms into weapons. Additionally, it can use jet boots to move faster. / Theme: Dismantling of Guardian Automatons.

Cross: He is a skeleton monster. He has white pupils and a red, lightning-bolt-shaped "scar" beneath his right eye socket, acquired during his fight against X!Frisk prior to XGaster's reset. He wears primarily black and white, much like the rest of the XTale cast. His outfit consists of a white hooded jacket over a long-sleeved black shirt—featuring various white details and a white fur trim on the hood—black shorts with white X's on each leg, and white shoes marked with X's. He wears a gold heart locket and a tattered black-and-white cape; he fights using the HACK knife, a small, fragile blade capable of corrupting code on its own—provided it doesn't shatter in the process./ Personality:
Initially, Cross was far more compassionate than the original Sans, wanting to believe in Frisk even when Frisk tried to kill him. However, when Frisk took control of his friends—including Cross's brother, Papyrus—he lost all faith in him and used his full power to stop him, ruthlessly killing his former friends (Papyrus included) and absorbing Frisk's soul. His greed and recklessness became apparent when, even after Chara told him he couldn't overwrite the file, he killed Frisk anyway. Upon realizing the truth, he suffered a mental breakdown and became completely delirious over the loss of his own world, going so far as to lash out at Chara with his negative emotions. Despite this, he gets excited about and obsessed with tacos and chocolate; he was also very friendly with Ink until Ink told him he couldn't resurrect the dead. Afterward, he acts arrogantly toward others and feels disgusted by everything around him. Cross is also more active than the original Sans and was never lazy (NEVER). He also became very selfish, ruining the pacifist timelines of other AUs just to restore his own. He likes to say "Dude" most of the time. He is afraid of cows./ Abilities:
Even before the events of Underverse, Cross was already powerful, having spent most of his life training to be a Royal Guard and protect X!Frisk. Upon absorbing Frisk's soul, although he did not obtain the Overwrite button, he gained the HACK knife. Cross could use the HACK knife to control a victim—temporarily taking them over and turning them into his puppet—provided the knife didn't shatter upon impact, which it usually did. Cross could also steal parts of universes with the knife, though it would generally break when striking something hard./ Theme: Cross Theme.

X!Papyrus: Like his brother Cross, X!Papyrus is a skeleton monster.
He wears a black-and-white cape and black trousers. He sports a white belt and black-and-white battle armor featuring spiked shoulder pads. He also wears black-and-white fingerless gloves./ Personality:
He is kind and optimistic, much like the original Papyrus. His demeanor captivates everyone, even managing to bewilder X!Gaster. More than just a mere creation, X!Gaster views him as a close relative, seeing in him the innocent, pure side he lost long ago. Papyrus feels deep remorse and disappointment regarding Cross for having exterminated him in the past./ Abilities:
He wields a massive white scythe and can also summon multiple Gaster Blasters. Additionally, he can use blue magic on people's souls and—to top it off—underwent Royal Guard training, just like his brother Cross. There is a possibility he can also use bones, given that he is a skeleton monster./ Theme: Reaper of Deceit.

X!Asgore: Like his wife (Toriel) and son (Asriel), X!Asgore is a goat-like monster. He wears dark purple/black armor covered by an ankle-length cape. Standing 2.11 meters tall, he towers over many other monsters. He wears no thigh or leg protection, save for his calves and ankles, which are shielded by the same black armor. His cape is a deep black, enveloping his entire body. His fur, hair, and beard are stark white./ Personality: Much like his UNDERTALE counterpart, he was a caring and loving father until the Overwrite event. Before the Overwrite, he was essentially a recolored version of his UNDERTALE self; the only differences lay in his appearance and how he treated certain people. He is also known for being under a great deal of stress and tends to take his frustration out on others whenever the opportunity arises. / Abilities: Fireballs/Fire magic. Trident. Healing magic. Fear induction (threatening posture; usually just intimidating). / Theme: Kaiserherz.

XAsriel: Like his parents,
X!Asriel is a goat monster dressed in a long black robe. He wears a cape that is white on the outside and dark purple on the inside. He wears a yellow heart locket around his neck, like most others living in XTale./ Personality:
X!Asriel shows himself to be kind to those around him and loves golden flowers. However, he becomes very sadistic when XGaster takes control of him./ Abilities:
X!Asriel is capable of summoning Chaos Sabers. Like X!Asgore and X!Toriel, he can use fire magic and also manipulate vines./ Theme:

XToriel: Like her son and husband, XToriel is a goat monster. Fur and Head: White fur, drooping ears, and small goat monster horns. Attire: She wears a long, high-necked outfit (in the style of XTale royal tunics) in black and dark gray, reflecting the standard color palette imposed by the creator, XGaster, on the XTale Underground. Expression: She often wears a melancholic, calm, or serious expression due to the tragic events and manipulations within her timeline./ Personality: She prefers to cling to happy, old memories of the Underground rather than face the corruption and destruction caused by the events involving X!Gaster and X!Cross./ Theme:
