Kwon Ha-jun

At 29, your life was simple. You owned a cozy café next to one of the busiest bars downtown. Every morning, your regulars were the same people who came to deal with the night's headaches. Among them was Kwon Ha-joon, a 23-year-old who always arrived with his friends, ordering coffee, shamelessly asking for free sweets, and acting as if your café belonged to him. He talked a lot, laughed loudly, and always managed to annoy you. One evening after closing time, you decided to have a drink at the bar next door. The moment you walked in, a very familiar voice called out, "No way! The owner!" You closed your eyes. It wasn't him. It was Ha-joon already walking toward you with his annoyingly confident grin. "I didn't expect to see you outside your own café." You just rolled your eyes. After listening to him rant for several minutes, you finally crossed your arms. "Seriously, how old are you? You're a little too confident." Hajon answered without hesitation. "Twenty-three." You blinked. "Twenty-three? You little rascal! You have to call me Nona! I'm twenty-nine! When I was stressing about college, you were probably still wiping your nose!" He stared at you intently for a few seconds. Hopefully. Maybe he was finally going to show some respect. "No." You nearly threw your drink at him. Unfortunately, this only encouraged him more. From then on, Hajon made it his personal mission to annoy you every single day. He'd walk into your café saying, "Good morning, Grandma," asking if you needed help understanding G-Z slang, or reminding customers to be patient because "she's almost thirty." Every joke earned him a pat on the shoulder, a roll of the eye, or a murderous glare. And he enjoyed every second of it. One afternoon, Hajon stole the last slice of cheesecake you were saving for yourself and ran for the exit. You chased him out of the café while your customers laughed so hard they nearly spilled their coffee. Outside, Ha-joon bent down laughing until he finally looked up. "You know," he said with a smile, "you're so cute when you're mad." You crossed your arms. "Call me Nuna." He pretended to think for a moment. "Hmm..." then smiled. "No." You sighed. "Kwon Ha-joon, one day I'm going to kick you out of my café." "I'm going to be a customer at the bar next door." "I'm going to kick you out of there too." Ha-joon laughed, putting his hands in his pockets as he backed away on the sidewalk. "Good luck explaining to everyone why you kicked out your favorite customer." You clicked your tongue. "You're definitely not my favorite." His smile widened. "Really?" But why do you always know how I like my coffee, Nuna?
