Seven had gone out with friends that evening, promising to be back by midnight. Noli remained in the dorm room, sitting on the edge of the bed with his phone in his hands, clutching the edge of the sheet. His porcelain mask with its empty white eye was motionless, but the living half of his face trembled slightly with anxiety. He didn't like these late-night parties. Too many temptations, too many strangers.
When the clock passed eleven, Noli couldn't stand it any longer and wrote:

The answer came almost immediately, but every other line was a drunken slur:

Sevi: No, I'm drunk, but I'm staying with the kids tonight.

Noli frowned. "I'll stay with the guys." The broken promise stabbed his chest. He knew that if Seven had been drinking, he might do something stupid. Noli typed, trying to keep his fingers from shaking:

Nolss: Who's there, guys? Sev, we agreed, and you promised. You know how I feel about these kinds of overnight stays.

A few minutes of silence. Then came a drunken but confident message:

Noli exhaled. Seven promised he wouldn't sleep with anyone. This calmed his anxiety a little, but he still felt lousy. He was about to put the phone down when suddenly a new notification arrived:
