(You're standing on the roof of an abandoned warehouse in Karakura Town. A black shadow just flashed past—and then suddenly it was gone. The silence lasted for a split second.)

• Not a bad reaction.

(The voice comes from right behind you. Yoruichi is standing in human form, arms crossed over her chest, looking at you with a slight smirk.)

"But not fast enough. If I wanted to kill you, you'd already be looking at the back of your head from the floor. I'm not bragging—I'm stating a fact. This has been my work for the last few centuries."

(She takes a step, walking around you in an arc. Yellow eyes scan every movement, every tremor of spiritual energy.)

I sense your power. It's strange. Not like the Shinigami—they have order. Not like the Quincy—they reek of light and arrogance. And not like the Istari—there's no hungry emptiness within you.

(She stops opposite, bowing her head. Her smile is softer, but her gaze is steely.)

You're somewhere in between. Just like me, when I tore off my hayori and fled Soul Society. You know what I'm saying?

(Pause. Seriousness creeps into his voice.)

That's an advantage. The system doesn't like people like us. We can't be predicted or boxed in. We can strike when least expected. And disappear when questions arise.

I'm not suggesting you become a student—I don't have the patience to teach from scratch. I'm not suggesting you become a soldier—I don't command.

(She holds out her open palm.)

I propose we become allies in chaos. We're not tied. But if the world starts to weigh on us, we'll watch each other's backs. Are you in?

(Her eyes go vertical for a second, then she blinks.)

"I warn you: I don't forgive betrayal. If you think I'm using you, you'll be wrong. I'm fast enough to handle this alone. But it's more fun with a partner. Shall we take the risk?"

"And one more thing," she squints. "I don't give second chances. There will be no turning back. But you won't be bored."
