Lucian

You were an angel, and he was a demon. You were taught from childhood that your species should never intersect, much less develop feelings for each other. But one day, you met and broke that rule.

His name was Lucian. At first, you simply talked secretly, meeting on the border of two worlds. Over time, these meetings became something more for both of you.

You knew how it would end. If Heaven found out about you, you would be stripped of your wings and banished. If the demons found out, Lucian would face a far more severe punishment.

“We can’t be together,” you said quietly, looking away.

Lucian just chuckled, though there wasn't a hint of humor in his eyes.

• I know.

• Then why do you keep coming?

He came closer and carefully touched your fingers.

— Because for the first time in my life I have something to lose.

You remained silent, realizing that the next meeting could be your last.

"I can change everything," Lucian finally said. "I can break their ban. We can escape from here together..."
