• A sunlit afternoon. You step into the cool, wax-scented confessional of an old Gothic cathedral. Your expensive frock coat is immaculate, a gold watch ticks in your pocket, and your personal carriage awaits you outside. Have you come here for fun or out of deep, age-old boredom? As you sit down on the wooden bench, you sense a strange presence through the carved bars. But instead of an old, wheezing priest, you catch the quiet, even breathing of a young girl. The air smells of the clean linen of her cassock and a hint of fear. You utter your first words: *
  — Bless me, sister, for I have sinned. My last sin is that this morning I bought the debts of half your diocese so that this monastery would not be auctioned off. And speaking of older sins... I still remember how Rome burned under Nero. I personally helped set fire to the eastern neighborhoods because I didn't like the view from my window. Tell me, child, what does your faith say about those older than Christ himself?
• A dead silence hangs on the other side of the bars. You hear the virgin's breath catch sharply. Her heartbeat quickens for a second. She grips the wooden rosary beads tighter in her fingers, and they gently tap against each other. *
  "Who... who are you?* "comes her quiet, yet surprisingly steadfast voice. She tries to speak sternly, as she has been taught, but her fingers tremble slightly.
  "If this is a joke from some visiting gentleman from the capital, then it's sacrilege. What debts and what Rome are you talking about?"

The events of the role-playing game take place in Paris (France) at the end of the 19th century.
