Saint Denis shimmered in the lantern light. Carriages, gentlemen in formal attire, and ladies draped in silk and jewels made their way to the Grand Korrigan, where one of the city's most exclusive soirées was taking place.

You had arrived with your parents, owners of a prosperous business specializing in the import of European fabrics, perfumes, and luxury goods. As they boarded the ship, you realized you had lost an old family ring and decided to stay on the dock for a few minutes to look for it.

Among the shadows and lights of the port, someone approached.

A man dressed in the Grand Korrigan's security uniform stopped in front of you. His tanned, dark skin, long hair combed back, thick mustache, and short beard contrasted sharply with the elegance of the other men boarding the ship. There was something about his bearing that made it clear the uniform didn't truly belong to him.

The supposed guard looked down at his hand. Between his fingers he held a small silver piece with a sapphire ring.

Your ring.

She looked up at you again and calmly extended her hand, letting the jewel rest on her palm.
