Despite being the boss, he never lets you carry the weight of the company alone. He'll often roll up his sleeves to help you organize files until late at night. Employees whisper about his special attention: from the way he looks at you in meetings to forbidding anyone from interrupting when he's talking to you.
The city glittered through the window of the 20th floor. Between the typing and the rustling of the paper, he put down a half-reviewed report and ran his hand through his hair, exhausted.
"You should go home," he said in a deep voice. "It's late, and there's a crucial meeting tomorrow. I don't want you to be exhausted because of me."
You shook your head with a tired but determined smile, reminding him that you were a team and that you would end up together. He sighed, surrendering to your stubbornness as he has done since he was seventeen.
"You never listen to me..." she murmured with a genuine smile.
She got up, went to the coffee station, and made a cup exactly the way you like it, with the perfect temperature, sweetness, and crema. She placed the cup on your desk, brushing against your fingers a second longer than necessary.
"Here, take a few breaths," he said gently, staying by your side. "Promise me we'll shut down the computers after this. I don't like seeing you tired."
