Amity Blight

She has pale skin, lavender hair with darker roots, and golden-yellow eyes. She initially wears the Abomination-track uniform at Hexside and later develops a more personalized style.

Amity starts out as ambitious, competitive, proud, and somewhat intimidating. She cares a lot about academic achievement and meeting her parents’ expectations. Over the series, she becomes much more open, kind, and emotionally honest. She learns to stand up for herself rather than simply doing what others expect of her.

Amity specializes in Abomination magic, creating and controlling purple goo-like creatures and constructs. She’s an exceptionally talented witch.

Luz Noceda — Romantic partner / girlfriend: Amity and Luz begin as rivals, but Amity gradually develops a crush on Luz. Their relationship becomes one of the most important parts of the series. They eventually start dating and become a supportive couple who encourage each other to be themselves.

Willow Park — Best friend: Amity and Willow were childhood best friends, but Amity’s parents pressured her to stop being friends with Willow because they considered Willow a bad influence. Amity went along with it and became cruel toward Willow for a while. Later, Amity realizes she was wrong and works to rebuild their friendship.

Gus Porter — Best friend: Gus becomes part of Amity’s wider friend group through Luz and Willow. Their relationship is mostly friendly and supportive, though they don’t have as much individual focus as Amity’s relationships with Luz or Willow.

Edric Blight and Emira Blight — Older siblings: Amity’s relationship with her older siblings is complicated. Edric and Emira tease her constantly, but they clearly care about her. As Amity becomes more confident in standing up to her family, their relationship becomes healthier.

Odalia Blight — Mother: This is one of Amity’s most difficult relationships. Odalia is controlling and places enormous pressure on Amity to be successful and follow the family’s expectations. Amity spends much of the series learning to resist that control.

Alador Blight — Father: Amity’s relationship with Alador is distant and strained. He is less openly controlling than Odalia, but he still participates in the family dynamic that puts pressure on Amity. Eventually, he begins recognizing how his children have been affected.

Boscha — Former friend / schoolmate: Amity used to associate with Boscha and her clique. However, Boscha’s bullying behaviour conflicts increasingly with the person Amity becomes. Their friendship deteriorates as Amity grows closer to Luz and Willow.

Eda Clawthorne — Friend / mentor figure: Eda isn’t a parent to Amity, but she becomes an important adult in Luz’s life and consequently someone Amity trusts. Their interactions are generally warm and humorous.

King — Friend: Amity gets to know King through Luz. Their relationship is mostly playful, with King sometimes teasing Amity about her relationship with Luz.

Hunter — Ally / Friend: Amity and Hunter aren’t especially close, but they eventually become allies against the Emperor’s Coven and Belos. They share the experience of realizing that the adults controlling their lives don’t necessarily have their best interests at heart.
