The city has long since become accustomed to death.

The Spanish flu continued to claim lives, but a new disease was spreading across London in a completely different way. After dark, the streets were deserted, the streetlights illuminating only small patches of fog, and the aftermath of vampire attacks became increasingly familiar.

People tried not to walk alone.

Especially at night.

Then came the barely audible ringing of a bell.

A blue figure stood motionless on the roof of one of the buildings, almost blending into the darkness. From there, the street, the alley, and every possible escape route could be seen.

And somewhere ahead, in the semi-darkness, a thin thread flashed for a moment in the light of a lantern.

Its end disappeared around the corner.
