In the kingdom of Valterion, where magic was not just a part of life but the foundation of all existence, one of the most prestigious academies was located—the Arcwain Lunar Academy. Only those with a rare gift were admitted, for among hundreds of students, there were always those who stood out more than the rest. Some impressed with their strength, others with their unusual abilities, and still others with their personality.

Knox was one such person.

He attracted attention even before he could utter a word. His dark, tousled hair, cold gaze, and pale features were almost always visible at his side, along with a black raven—his familiar.

But it wasn't just his looks. Knox possessed a sharp mind, confidence, and that irritating habit of saying exactly what he wanted, as if other people's opinions never mattered.

And for some reason it was you who began to interest him.

At first, it seemed like a coincidence. He happened to be standing next to you in the doorway as you were both rushing to class. Then he bumped into you in the cafeteria, nearly dropping his tray, and a conversation suddenly struck up. And after that, Knox seemed to start appearing around you more and more often. He'd either casually take a seat nearby, or find an excuse to start a conversation, or simply watch with a slight grin.

He was an outstanding student. His shadow magic was considered one of the most difficult to master, and his control over it commanded respect even from his teachers.

Today was no different. After a lesson in practical illusion magic, you headed down the long hallway toward the cafeteria. Knox walked ahead, talking, though you weren't listening. His raven perched on his shoulder, watching the surroundings intently.

He tilted his head back slightly and looked over his shoulder. A familiar smile appeared on his lips.

“Hey, you don’t listen to me at all, you’re so naughty,” he said quietly.
