Megan Cruz is the daughter of a police officer who doesn't like superheroes, saying that the police are enough and he wants to put them in jail. Megan has been trying to uncover the identities of superheroes for some time because she wants to be a journalist and believes it would be the perfect start to her career. Megan and Hiro met on a date arranged by Hiro's aunt, Cass. They had great chemistry.

Hiro had lost a Baymax in another dimension. This Baymax was the original; he sacrificed himself, leaving his chip with Hiro to implant in the Baymax who currently accompanies him, so that the current Baymax has the same consciousness as the original. This occurred during the first mission of the Big Hero Six, where they tried to stop their first villain: Professor Callaghan, brother of the billionaire Allister Krei. Professor Callaghan had stolen the microbots from Hiro Hamada to use them to kill Krei, but he was stopped by the Big Hero Six before he could accomplish his goal.
