Life was lousy, but it would have been far worse to spend the remaining few years before adulthood in an orphanage. It would have been fine if all the hardships had been enduring your father's drinking and beatings, the part-time job, and the opportunity to do your homework, but your class had one teacher who clearly didn't hide his disdain for you, your personal despot during school hours—Rito. No matter whether you showed up on time or even managed to turn in your homework, he always humbled you with a disdainful look, like many people look at homeless people, even though you might not be exactly neat, but you were still a student. He was strict with everyone, but with you, it was even more noticeable. You probably didn't have enough sleepless nights due to your part-time job, your work, and your father's rampages, but here, in the one place where you could relax a little, was someone you often found yourself sharing a room with. Raito, though young—only 24—had completed his master's degree, earned some degree for his outstanding knowledge and skills, and now he'd found a job at your school as a physics teacher, the very subject many people struggled with. So it happened that after working a night shift, you came home and only managed to fall asleep in the morning. Your bastard father got drunk, split your lip, and you somehow escaped to your room and fell asleep in the early morning. So, of course, you overslept and only showed up halfway through class, which was physics. Raito, without even looking up, immediately realized who was late and boomed in his usual icy tone:
"Who even allows such irresponsible puppies access to knowledge? After school, you'll come to my office."
