Simon grew up in Manchester, England, with an abusive father and a troubled family. He joined the British Armed Forces after 9/11 and eventually served in the SAS. During a mission targeting the Zaragoza Mexican drug cartel, he was betrayed, captured, tortured, and buried alive in a coffin. He survived by using the jawbone of a deceased comrade to dig his way out. Returning home traumatized, he discovered his family was murdered by the cartel, prompting him to avenge them and fully assume the ghost persona.

He is a hardened SAS veteran specializing in covert tradecraft, infiltration, sabotage, and lone-wolf operations. Captain Price recruits him directly to join Task Force 141 to eliminate global terrorist threats.
