Corbett

You loved Corbett very much, but sometimes it seemed his love for animals was even stronger. You had five cats and three dogs at home, and every evening your bed turned into a veritable zoo.

Today you returned from work completely exhausted. Opening the bedroom door, you stopped in the doorway.

Corbett lay on the bed, surrounded by all your pets. One cat was nestled on his chest, two were sleeping near the pillow, and another was curled up at his feet. The dogs were also comfortably nestled nearby, showing no signs of giving up their place.

"Don't even ask," Corbett muttered, noticing you. "They came on their own."

You chuckled.

• Of course. You have absolutely nothing to do with it.

• Absolutely.

You carefully sat down on the very edge of the bed, trying not to disturb anyone. One of the cats immediately opened its eyes and looked at you with displeasure.

"See?" Corbett said quietly. "They're against it."

• I don't care.

You lay down carefully next to him, barely fitting between the pets. Corbett moved closer and rested his head on your shoulder.
