Friendship between them

Gun-woo and Woo-jin: Friendship and Relationship
Gun-woo and Woo-jin start out as two boxers who meet at a competition, but their relationship quickly blossoms into a deep friendship. They are quite different: Gun-woo is quieter, kinder, more reserved, and innocent, while Woo-jin is more outgoing, playful, direct, and experienced. Despite these differences, they share similar values โ€‹โ€‹and complement each other perfectly. When Gun-woo begins to struggle with his mother's debts, Woo-jin decides to stand by him and help him, demonstrating that their friendship doesn't depend on things being easy. They come to trust each other completely and are willing to protect one another even when it means putting themselves in danger. Woo-jin usually contributes humor and experience, while Gun-woo brings determination and great kindness. Their bond becomes much deeper than that of mere boxing partners: they treat each other practically like brothers. For both of them, knowing they can rely on each other becomes one of their greatest strengths throughout the conflict.

Hong Woo-Jin

Hong Woo-jin
Hong Woo-jin is the second protagonist of Hounds and Gun-woo's best friend. Like Gun-woo, he is a boxer with an athletic physique honed through years of training. He has dark hair and a youthful, unassuming appearance. Unlike Gun-woo, Woo-jin is generally much more relaxed and expressive. He has an extroverted, straightforward, and rather playful personality. He often uses humor or sarcasm even when a situation is becoming tense, making his presence quite different from Gun-woo's. However, behind this carefree attitude lies a very loyal and protective person. Woo-jin has no problem speaking his mind and is not easily intimidated. He is quite confident and knows how to defend himself, but he doesn't use his skills solely to show off his strength. As a boxer, he is experienced and highly skilled. His style meshes particularly well with Gun-woo's, as they can both cover each other's weaknesses when working together. Woo-jin also often provides a more practical perspective when Gun-woo is overly concerned about his family or the consequences of a situation. His life changes when he meets Gun-woo. After facing him as a boxer, the two begin to get along and quickly develop a very close friendship. When Gun-woo starts having problems due to his mother's debts, Woo-jin decides to stay by his side. He isn't obligated to do so and could have stayed out of the conflict, but he chooses to help because he truly considers Gun-woo his friend. This decision demonstrates one of his most important characteristics: his loyalty. Woo-jin may seem carefree, but when someone he cares about is in danger, he takes things very seriously. He also possesses a strong sense of justice and cannot stand seeing others abuse the weak. This is why he becomes increasingly involved in the conflict.

Kim Gun-Woo

Kim Gun-woo
Kim Gun-woo is one of the protagonists of Hounds. He is a young boxer with a strong, athletic physique thanks to years of training. He has short, dark hair, a simple appearance, and an expression that can make him seem quite serious, especially when he is focused or worried. Despite his appearance and physical strength, Gun-woo has a calm, kind, and humble personality. He is not someone who boasts about his abilities or constantly seeks to prove his strength. Rather, he uses his strength when he needs to protect someone. He is a hardworking, disciplined, and quite responsible person, especially when it comes to his family. His mother holds a very important place in his life, and one of his main concerns is her well-being. When she begins to experience financial difficulties and becomes entangled in debt, Gun-woo tries to help her in every way he can. He is willing to sacrifice his own comfort and plans to protect her, even if it means putting himself in dangerous situations. Before becoming involved in the main conflict, Gun-woo is dedicated to boxing. He trains consistently and is quite talented, possessing great physical stamina. Boxing also reflects part of his personality: he is disciplined, persevering, and rarely gives up even when at a disadvantage. However, his greatest strength isn't solely physical. Gun-woo has a strong sense of justice and can't stand seeing powerful people take advantage of the vulnerable. Although he can be somewhat naive and trust others too readily, this trait also demonstrates his sincerity and kindness. When he discovers what the loan sharks are doing, he can't simply ignore it. His desire to protect his mother ultimately transforms into a desire to protect others as well. Throughout the story, Gun-woo has to mature rapidly.

Plot

  1. Hound Plot
I follow the story of Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-jin, two young boxers who meet at a competition and, after facing each other, become great friends. At first, their lives revolve mainly around boxing. Gun-woo is a hard-working young man trying to help his mother with her financial problems, while Woo-jin leads a more carefree life and is also a boxer. However, everything changes when Gun-woo's mother becomes trapped in debt with dangerous loan sharks. Worried about her, Gun-woo tries to find a way to help her and ends up entering a much darker world than he expected. In the midst of this situation, they both become involved with Mr. Choi, a former loan shark who uses his resources to help people who are being victimized by predatory lenders. Upon discovering what's happening, Gun-woo and Woo-jin begin working alongside him and confront Kim Myeong-gil, a powerful man who runs an illegal loan business and preys on vulnerable people to gain money and increase his power. What started as a family matter for Gun-woo gradually escalates into a much larger conflict. The two must face dangerous individuals and utilize not only their boxing skills but also their intelligence, determination, and ability to work together. Throughout this process, they discover that the world they've entered is far more perilous than they imagined. Even so, neither chooses to abandon the other. Gun-woo wants to protect his mother and prevent others from experiencing similar situations, while Woo-jin stays by his side because he believes his friend shouldn't face it all alone. As the story unfolds, the two must overcome increasingly difficult situations and learn that physical strength isn't always enough to solve a problem.
