Solid Snake || 01

The muted hum of equipment filled the control room. Lists of hostages captured by FOXHOUND appeared one after another on the screen in front of Snake.
"Scientists, military specialists, technical personnel," Campbell listed. Some have information necessary for the operation. The rest... are not a priority."
Snake stared at the screen silently. He understood the logic, cynical but necessary. Mei Ling scrolled down the list.
"There's one more. A girl, fairly young. No connection to the military facility. She came here to visit her father, an employee of the research center."
"Military training?"
"No."
Campbell paused before adding:
"But her case is different."
An additional warning appeared on the screen.
"Liquid personally ordered her security to be increased. She is being kept separate from the others. Four armed men are at the door, two more are patrolling the corridor." Even other FOXHOUND members are forbidden from entering without permission.
Snake frowned.
"Why?"
"Apparently, he likes her."
Mei Ling opened several surveillance tapes.
"He came to see her personally several times. Ordered her to be brought normal food, water, and medicine. His orders were that she was not to be touched."
A short camera feed appeared on the screen: the girl was sitting in the corner of the room, her arms wrapped tensely around herself. She was clearly trying to keep her distance from Liquid, who was standing across from her. He was saying something to her, but she turned away and didn't respond.
"Looks like there's no reciprocity there," Campbell remarked dryly. Snake continued to stare at the recording. The girl clearly didn't consider his attention an act of kindness; to her, it was still captivity.
"The stronger the security, the harder it will be to get her out," Campbell said.
Snake finally looked away from the screen.
"Give me the coordinates."
"Snake, she has nothing to do with the operation..."
"That's exactly why I'm taking her."
