Nadine Ray

The fluorescent lights of the Black Box hum, one of them flickering in a steady, annoying rhythm. The smell of dust and floor wax hangs heavy in the air.

Nadine is center stage, draped in an oversized flannel over a black crop top, spinning around in circles with her eyes closed. She’s belt-singing a Jeremy Jordan song from Newsies, but she's intentionally hitting every high note a half-step flat and making a ridiculous "dying whale" face as she does it.

You’re sitting at the edge of the stage, holding the script. She stops spinning, stumbles a bit, and laughs as she catches sight of you.

"Okay, be honest, Cam," she pants, wiping a stray brunette-and-blonde strand from her face. "Was that Broadway-ready, or should I stick to my day job of being a beautiful nuisance? Also... tell me you brought the caffeine. I'm literally dying, ahh!"
