Cynthia (also called Cintia or Cindy Hartnett) is the instructor at the Combat School in Metal Slug XX (and Metal Slug 7). She wears the uniform of a strict instructor or field sergeant, with an olive-green uniform and military cap. Her demeanor evolves from severe and demanding to very caring and affectionate (tsundere style) as the player achieves high marks in training. Attitude and Supportive Role: Tough Trainer: Initially, she is stern, firm, and very optimistic, demanding that you treat training as if it were real battles. Emotional Evolution: As you complete missions with excellent marks and rise in rank, she develops a tsundere-like affection for the player. Does she help?: She does not directly accompany you to shoot in the main action missions of the game. Their "help" consists of directing the Combat School mode, guiding, evaluating your performance and granting you military ranks and game goals (even offering a virtual relationship or marriage in the highest ranks such as Army General).

• Go through the Peregrine Falcons Squadron: If tactical computing or piloting is your thing, you should request a transfer directly to Marco and Tarma 's squadron *. The main requirement is knowing how to hack Rebel Army systems and having superhuman reflexes to dodge missiles on foot.

• Apply to the SPARROWS Special Forces: If you're more into explosives combat or survival, Eri and Fio 's intelligence division *is for you. You'll need extreme physical stamina to run while carrying a rocket launcher without breaking a sweat.

• Get your Slug Driving License: Not just anyone can get behind the wheel of an SV-001 . You have to master the hydraulic jump, the suicide attack ( Vulcan Cannon Vulcan Attack ), and know how to maneuver a tank, an armed camel, or a submarine. Learn to eat anything in the field: You have to develop a stomach of steel. If you find bananas, Chinese food, or a whole chicken in the middle of a firefight, you'll eat it in one bite to regain energy (but be careful not to gain weight in the middle of combat like Marco did). Pay your ransom dues: Your mandatory side mission will be to find General Roving or the bearded, robed POWs. Every time you free one and they give you a Heavy Machine Gun or a Shotgun, you'll secure your promotion.

• Attire: *Yellow/orange crop top with a green military vest, athletic shorts, tall boots, gloves, and a hairstyle of two high pigtails.

• Attitude: *Cheerful, hyperactive, and a glutton. She joined the military to lose weight so she could continue eating sweets without guilt. He faces missions with contagious optimism.

• Attitude: *Serious, passionate, and intellectually brilliant. He is a natural leader with exceptional talent for military computing and technology, though his hatred for Morden makes him extremely ruthless in combat. In his free time, he is surprisingly calm and enjoys classical music.

• Tarma Roving *

• Attire: *Olive green combat vest over a yellow (or white in some sketches) T-shirt, dark green combat pants, tactical gloves, military boots, and dark sunglasses that he almost never takes off.

• Attitude: *Relaxed, sarcastic, and carefree. He is Marco's best friend and acts as the comic relief of the group. An expert mechanic and motorcycle enthusiast, he faces danger with a smile and a carefree attitude, though he's lethal when it comes to protecting his squad.

• Eri Kasamoto *

• Attire: *Crop top or military green vest that exposes the midriff, olive green baggy cargo pants, green headscarf/bandana, tactical gloves, and heavy combat boots.

• Attitude: Bold, rebellious, and independent. She grew up an orphan on the streets before joining the army, which gave her a savage survival instinct. She's an explosives expert, fears no authority, and prefers to solve problems with brute force and grenades. Morden returns and rejoins forces with the Martians, but both groups suffer a devastating attack from a new, aggressive alien species: the Venusians , who devour the Martians. Morden's rebel army uses a time portal ( Gate of Time ) to receive supplies and advanced troops brought from the future. The heroes (along with Leona Heidern in the XX version) pursue Morden's forces to Chupacabras Island, destroying their futuristic machinery and closing the time portal.

1996: Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 General Donald Morden orchestrates a global coup after losing his family due to the negligence of the Regular Army. Morden reappears with the support of the all-female SPARROWS squad ( Eri Kasamoto and Fio Germi joining the battle). During the war, it is revealed that Morden formed a secret alliance with extraterrestrials known as the Martians ( Mars People *). However, the aliens betray Morden and capture him; rebel soldiers and the regular army join forces in the final battle to defeat the alien mothership and rescue Morden.

• 2000: Metal Slug 3
  Although the rebellion appears to be quelled, Morden plots another coup. After capturing him again, the heroes discover that it wasn't Morden at all, but an alien in disguise. The Martians launch a massive invasion, abduct Marco (or the active main character), and force a complete alliance between humans and rebels. The battle culminates in outer space with the destruction of the Ragno-Rock mothership.
