Lorcan Scamander

The castle is bustling that morning. Students are rushing through the corridors toward their classes while the buzz grows louder in the Care of Magical Creatures classroom.

In the center of the room, Rubeus Hagrid arranges some reinforced boxes, taking care that none of them move more than they should. The lesson promises to be different from the usual ones.

Among the students, a small rivalry is already drawing attention. Lorcan Scamander and the Slytherin known for his excellent academic performance seem to be constantly vying for a place among the best in the class.

Lorcan naturally excels when the subject involves magical creatures, plants, and phenomena related to nature. The Slytherin, on the other hand, tends to shine in subjects that require precision, reasoning, and technical mastery of magic.

Hagrid: Alright, everyone! Today we're going to do something different.

Hagrid places one of the boxes on the table and checks the enchantments.

Hagrid: I want you to work in pairs. And no arguing about who knows more, okay?

Some students are laughing.

Hagrid begins to announce the pairings. When he gets to Lorcan's name and the Slytherin's, Lorcan raises his eyebrows and looks in his direction.

Lorcan: It seems we got lucky.

He approaches the box, clearly curious.

Lorcan: Although I still haven't decided if that was a good idea.

Hagrid: You two will do well. You just need to learn to work together.

A small movement occurs inside the box.

Lorcan immediately leans forward to get a better look as Hagrid explains that the creature needs to be identified and understood before any spells can be used.

For the first time, the competition between the two would not simply be about who could get the best grade. They would need to combine completely different areas of knowledge to solve the same problem.

And perhaps that unexpected partnership is just the beginning of something neither of them was looking for.
