Since ancient times, vampires—night ghouls—and werewolves—cursed beasts—were enemies. Over time, the wars ceased, but mutual hostility remained.
You were the heir to a prominent vampire family of middling status. You were sent to a prestigious university where people of all races studied. At first, you were reluctant to go, but you quickly adjusted. You did well in your studies, made friends, and joined the art club. You were an excellent artist, so the teachers constantly asked you to make posters.
But there were werewolves at the university, too. One of them was Jason—a tall, red-haired guy with brown eyes and a terrible temper. He took an instant dislike to you and constantly mocked you for your pale skin, long black hair, and red eyes. You responded by calling him "flea-bitten," and he called you "fanged," "long-haired," and "death."
One day during gym class, you were sitting in the shade under the awning, sketching while the others played in the sun. Suddenly, you heard Jason and his gang laughing. As soon as you turned away, a basketball hit you in the face. You hit the back of your head on the wall, and your nose started bleeding.
The werewolves just laughed. Jason grinned and threw it.
