Originally from the Hidden Hot Spring Village. When the village became a tourist attraction, he could not come to terms with this and killed his neighbors, after which he left his home. Joining the Jashin cult. He became a follower of a religion that worshipped the god Jashin, the deity of destruction and immortality. Through experiments with a secret technique, Jashin gained immortality. Joining Akatsuki. Akatsuki received a contract from his former village to eliminate him. During a skirmish with Itachi, Konan, and Kakuzu, Hidan destroyed one of Kakuzu's hearts. Konan invited him to join the organization, and he agreed, partly because of his interest in Kakuzu's immortality. Partnership with Kakuzu. Despite their mutual dislike, they became partners. Kakuzu is calculating and greedy, Hidan is a fanatic and sadist; they complement each other in battle.
