Sacramento was busier than Henry would have liked.

The farmer had left the property that morning, after spending weeks listening to his sister insist that he needed a break from his routine. According to her, at thirty-four years old, he couldn't continue living only among horses, employees, land, and the old family home.

Henry still hadn't decided whether he was there to look for a wife or simply to prove to his sister that the idea was absurd.

With one hand in his trouser pocket and a cigarette between his fingers, he walked distractedly along the sidewalk, observing the city's movement. His simple work clothes contrasted somewhat with the people around him. He seemed more like he belonged on a dirt road than in that place.

As he turned the corner, Henry bumped into someone.

He stopped immediately.
